Summary

The Vision Products Group is looking for a driven and dedicated Tools and Automation Engineer. As a member of our fast-paced group, the new team member will have the unique and rewarding opportunity to be part of a new project and shape upcoming products that will delight and inspire millions of Apple’s customers every day.

Description

As a Tools and Automation Engineer, you'll be embedded in the Vision Products Group quality assurance team, working shoulder-to-shoulder with software engineers, QA engineers, and team leads toward a shared goal of delivering exceptional products. Day to day, you'll write and expand automated tests — building on established frameworks and existing tooling rather than starting from scratch — and collaborate across teams to ensure your work has broad impact. You'll also have the opportunity to incorporate AI tools into your workflow to work smarter and move faster. If you're someone who takes pride in writing clean, purposeful automation, enjoys collaborative problem-solving, and wants to play a hands-on role in shaping the quality of innovative consumer products, this role is a great fit.

Responsibilities

Design and develop a new automated test suite for a new hardware and software product, intended for distribution to cross-functional teams as part of their validation workflows and CI pipelines
Collaborate with fellow automation engineers to ensure new test work aligns with established team standards, coding practices, and architectural patterns
Partner with cross-functional teams to support integration of the automated test suite into their continuous integration systems and pre-submission test passes
Expand automated test coverage by authoring new tests within existing frameworks, building upon established tooling rather than starting from scratch
Improve the reliability and stability of existing automated test suites through debugging, refactoring, and targeted enhancements

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
Experience writing automated tests or developing automation tooling
Proficiency in Python, Java, or a similar programming language
Familiarity with CI/CD systems and workflows
Experience with QA methodologies, including manual test execution and bug reporting
Strong communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams
Familiarity with Gen AI coding tools. Demonstrated ability to use them for design, code generation, and debugging.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience testing or working with AI and/or ML systems
Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines
Experience building internal tooling or utilities to support development or testing workflows
Familiarity with hardware and software co-development or validation environments
Experience working within agile or iterative development environments
