The Opportunity

As a Full Stack Engineer you will provide leadership and technical expertise for feature enhancement and bug fixes for existing applications.  This will include working with various tools and tech stacks throughout the R&D organization.  You will also be working on infrastructure as code and CI/CD pipelines for both new and existing applications.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain web applications across front‑end and back‑end components
• Participate in code reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback
• Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to refine requirements and deliver high‑value features
• Implement and maintain automated tests (unit, integration, end‑to‑end) to ensure software quality
• Help monitor and troubleshoot production issues, including performance and reliability concerns
• Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes, tooling, and architecture
• Contribute to Takeda’s mission by leading the development and adoption of cloud-first solutions that deliver business outcomes and drive innovation                            

Skills and Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related study, or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of experience in Python
• 5+ years of experience in JavaScript
• 3+ years of experience with another major programming language (e.g. Java, C++, PHP)
• 3+ years of expert level experience building and maintaining AWS infrastructure (EC2, RDS, LBs, S3).
• Proficient in provisioning AWS resources using Infrastructure as code (IaC) with Terraform
• 3+ years of experience with relational databases (e.g. Oracle, MySQL, Postgres)
• Experience writing and integrating with RESTful API’s
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, business acumen, and enterprise knowledge
• Demonstrated skills in guiding and mentoring development teams. Ability to provide technical guidance, set coding standards, conduct code reviews, and ensure adherence to best practices. Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and project management tools.
• Experience in prototyping, as well as operating at scale, with focus on writing clean, encapsulated and well documented code.
• Adept at analyzing complex technical issues, identifying root causes, and implementing effective solutions. Proficient in debugging, performance optimization, and troubleshooting mobile/web applications.

Preferred skills

• Experience with NoSQL databases, especially AWS native databases (DynamoDB and Neptune)
• Hands on experience with containerization in AWS (EKS and OpenSearch)
• Experience with a modern JavaScript framework (e.g. React, Vue, or Angular)
• Knowledge of GxP processes and documentation
