Join the Microsoft Specialized Cloud (MSC) team - the next generation of platform and experiences enabling Microsoft and Azure, the fastest-growing cloud platform in the world which makes billions of dollars in revenue. MSC’s  teams build and operate products and cloud services used by U.S. government customers at significant scale, solve challenging problems across distributed systems, developer platforms, data, reliability, and product experiences while collaborating with teams across Microsoft to deliver secure, dependable, and innovative technology for our U.S. Government customers and their missions. 

As a Product Manager Intern, you will define product vision and strategy by leveraging a deep understanding of the customer experience and competitive market, while identifying short-and long-term investment opportunities, evaluating tradeoffs, and driving the product roadmap. You will build consensus on product strategy, define features, vision and goals for a specific product(s) or set of features. This opportunity will allow you to develop and execute strategies to enable in-product organic growth and focus on central, cross-functional leadership of a product.

Responsibilities
  • Defines, drives, and tracks Key Results (OKRs), success criteria, and key performance metrics. Identifies, gains approval for, and adds directly or works with Software Engineering to add telemetry and experimentation into our system.
  • Identifies customers’ unmet or unknown needs and market opportunities for enhancements or development of a feature (e.g., product, service) via quantitative and qualitative analyses and scope the impact of a problem. Prioritizes list of features or product experiences that will map to a set of business outcomes.
  • Uses AI as to accelerate and expand learning, data mining, prototyping, synthesizing analysis, and decision-making. Leverages AI to safely collapse the distance from idea to impact.
  • Collaborates with Product Marketing, Business Planning, and Engineering to identify product release criteria, customer acquisition, usage, retention, and monetization strategies. Leverages a line of communication with customers to capture feedback and insights through the product development lifecycle.
  • Gathers input on priorities and resources needed to deliver desired outcomes for feature(s) (e.g., product, service). Iterates multiple designs with Design, Software Engineering, and Hardware Engineering. Updates, modifies OKRs, and reprioritizes work as needed to fit schedule based on this input. Assists in facilitating reviews (e.g., UX, system designs, data designs) with customers (e.g., regulators, engineers, policy makers, business-decision makers) to determine usability and ensure accessibility criteria and updated designs meet customer goals.
  • Monitors and reports on progress and derive insights that lead to productive courses of action to improve product/feature development, iteration, and implementation. Leverages AI to query, analyze, and iterate on the product using telemetry.

Qualifications
 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree with at least one semester/term of school remaining following the completion of the internship
    • OR Currently pursuing a Master's Degree with at least one semester/term of school remaining following the completion of the internship
    • OR Currently pursuing a Doctorate with at least one semester/term of school remaining following the completion of the internship.

Other Requirements: 

Security Clearance Requirements: Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:  

  • The successful candidate must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret Security Clearance. Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. Failure to maintain or obtain the appropriate clearance and/or customer screening requirements may result in employment action up to and including termination.
  • Clearance Verification: This position requires successful verification of the stated security clearance to meet federal government customer requirements. You will be asked to provide clearance verification information prior to an offer of employment.
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
  • Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of U.S. citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local United States government agency customer and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. To meet this legal requirement, citizenship will be verified via a valid passport, or other approved documents, or verified US government Clearance.
