About the role
Original posting provided by Microsoft
The Microsoft 365 Consumer Marketing team plays an influential role in evolving our products and driving growth for Microsoft's consumer subscription businesses.
We are looking for a Senior GTM Manager to lead strategy and go-to-market execution across three important growth areas: Student audience, Offers, and subscriber lifecycle change management.
You will own the global consumer strategy for higher-education students, developing differentiated value propositions, offers, and customer journeys that introduce students to Microsoft 365 individual plans and build sustainable paid relationships. You will also lead Microsoft 365 strategy for Windows-based offers, working across device setup, Windows experiences, Office applications, Retail, and OEM-supported opportunities.
In addition, you will serve as a product marketing leader for material changes affecting Microsoft 365 Consumer subscribers. You will partner with Legal, Privacy, Engineering, Commerce, Support, and lifecycle marketing to assess subscriber impact and translate approved requirements into clear customer experiences, communications, and launch plans.
This is a senior individual-contributor role requiring strategic thinking, analytical rigor, customer obsession, and the ability to lead complex programs across organizations without direct authority.
Microsoft's mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees, we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals.
Responsibilities
Student strategy and growth
Own the global Microsoft 365 Consumer strategy for higher-education students, including audience definition, competitive positioning, value proposition, offer roadmap, and business performance.
Develop differentiated student propositions that bring together productivity, AI, storage, security, skilling, and relevant partner benefits.
Build an evergreen acquisition and monetization roadmap around academic lifecycle moments, including back-to-school, semester starts, graduation, and the transition from institution-provided access to an individual subscription.
Define end-to-end customer journeys spanning student identification, eligibility verification, checkout, activation, upgrade, renewal, and transitions between education and consumer subscriptions.
Develop learning agendas across pricing, trials, offer structure, channels, messaging, customer friction, abuse prevention, and conversion to paid.
Establish business-review and planning rhythms across Microsoft 365, Education, Windows, Copilot, LinkedIn, GitHub, and other relevant teams.
Windows offers
Own the Microsoft 365 business and customer proposition for Windows-led offers, including device-attached trials, student bundles, in-product offers, and Retail or OEM-supported promotions.
Translate Windows and device-partner opportunities into executable plans covering the target audience, offer construct, eligibility, redemption, customer journey, marketing support, and measurement.
Identify durable acquisition opportunities across Windows setup, inbox experiences, Office applications, web, Retail, and direct channels.
Develop test-and-learn plans that measure acquisition, paid conversion, subscriber value, and ecosystem engagement - not only promotional uptake.
Define how successful offers transition into sustainable paid relationships, including renewal expectations, upgrade paths, post-offer communications, and the customer experience when a promotional period ends.
Partner with product, engineering, analytics, finance, sales, and channel teams to prioritize opportunities and drive execution.
Subscriber compliance and change management
Serve as the product marketing owner for the subscriber experience when Microsoft 365 introduces a material product, pricing, entitlement, migration, plan, or feature change.
Assess which subscribers are affected, what changes for them, what value remains available, and whether customers must take action.
Identify affected cohorts and data requirements across plan, purchase channel, market, entitlement, and migration status.
Develop the end-to-end customer communication and experience plan across email, in-product messaging, support content, FAQs, and other relevant touchpoints.
Build and drive launch workbacks covering accountable owners, dependencies, reviews, localization, support readiness, data validation, and channel timing.
Partner with Legal and Privacy to obtain guidance and required approvals, then translate those requirements into clear subscriber journeys and coordinated execution.
Apply a customer-first framework to required communications, prioritizing clarity, continuity, recourse, and support when subscriber value or entitlements change.
Maintain reusable precedents, templates, decision frameworks, and readiness checklists that help teams identify subscriber and execution risks earlier.
Provide executive updates on readiness, customer impact, unresolved risks, and decisions required for launch.
This role does not provide legal advice, independently interpret regulatory requirements, or own Microsoft compliance policy.
