About this role
Your team
We are building a new organization within Aladdin Data: the BlackRock Data Office, focused on enabling trusted, reusable and Artificial Intelligence (AI)-ready data across Technology & Operations.
The BlackRock Data Office serves as the central team responsible for accelerating how data is onboarded, governed, managed and consumed through the firm's Data Marketplace. Working closely with domain teams, engineers, product teams and business stakeholders, the team establishes scalable stewardship, governance and data product practices that enable data to be managed as a strategic enterprise asset. The organization plays a critical role in delivering trusted, discoverable and reusable data that supports operational excellence, analytics and AI innovation.
Your role and impact
We are seeking a Data Steward to help establish and scale data stewardship across Technology & Operations. In this role, you will drive data ownership, governance, quality and accountability across strategic data domains, helping ensure that data is trusted, discoverable, reusable and fit for operational, analytical and AI-driven use cases.
You will work across business and technology teams to strengthen governance practices, improve data quality and advance data product adoption. Your contributions will help enable trusted, well-governed data products that support enterprise decision-making, operational processes and the firm's long-term AI strategy.
Your responsibilities
In every role at BlackRock, you'll be expected to apply sound judgement and critical thinking to solve complex problems, adapt as the business evolves, and combine the curiosity to explore new approaches and technologies with the rigor to challenge the results. The scope of this role also includes the following responsibilities:
Partner with business, product and engineering teams to establish data ownership, accountability and governance standards while driving adoption of metadata, lineage, data quality and data product practices across Technology & Operations.
Support the onboarding, governance and lifecycle management of data products while enhancing their quality, usability, discoverability and reuse across the firm.
Define, monitor and report on data quality controls and metrics, driving remediation of data quality issues, governance gaps and associated risks.
Establish and support stewardship forums, governance processes and operating models.
Partner with Data Product Owners, Engineers and Domain Owners to improve the effectiveness, quality and adoption of enterprise data products.
Drive stewardship best practices and contribute to the long-term vision of the BlackRock Data Office.
Your experience
- Proven ability to apply data stewardship, governance, data management, data quality and data product practices in complex enterprise environments, supported by relevant academic or professional credentials.
- Ability to apply data governance, stewardship, lineage, metadata management and modern data operating models to support enterprise data and analytics platforms.
- Demonstrated success partnering with stakeholders to promote data ownership, accountability and governance practices across business and technology teams.
- Ability to analyze, validate and troubleshoot data using enterprise data catalogs, metadata and lineage platforms, modern cloud data ecosystems, database technologies and SQL.
- Knowledge of financial services data, regulatory environments and one or more business domains such as trading, accounting, reference and market data, investment operations, risk and analytics, regulatory and compliance, sustainability, corporate data or private markets.
- Strong organizational, communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across business and technology functions.
