About this role

Your team

APAC Institutional Client Business is responsible for understanding the strategic, investment, and risk-management needs of leading institutional investors and translating those needs into commercial opportunities. The team serves a broad range of clients, including sovereign wealth funds, public and corporate pension funds, insurers, and banks, providing access to BlackRock’s investment products, capabilities, technology, and risk analytics.

Across Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, China, Australia, South Korea, and Japan, the team partners with colleagues globally to develop solutions tailored to client objectives and bring the breadth of BlackRock’s capabilities to institutional investors across the region.

Your role and impact

Based in Seoul, this role is responsible for developing and executing the sales strategy to expand the adoption and use of iShares in South Korea across institutional and wealth channels. The Vice President will develop relationships with asset managers, insurers, pension funds, government entities, banks, and securities firms, helping clients understand how iShares products can support their investment objectives.

Working closely with iShares colleagues and teams across BlackRock, this individual will identify commercial opportunities, deepen strategic client relationships, provide relevant market intelligence, and help evolve the distribution strategy in response to investment trends, regulatory developments, and client needs. The role reports to the Head of iShares Sales, South Korea, based in Hong Kong.

Your responsibilities

In every role at BlackRock, you'll be expected to apply sound judgement and critical thinking to solve complex problems, adapt as the business evolves, and combine the curiosity to explore new approaches and technologies with the rigor to challenge the results. The scope of this role also includes the following responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the South Korea sales strategy across institutional and wealth channels, identifying priority clients, expanding the adoption of iShares products, and delivering agreed assets-under-management and revenue objectives.
  • Partner across BlackRock’s local, regional, and global teams to deliver integrated client solutions, deploy firm resources effectively, and identify cross-selling opportunities.
  • Represent iShares and BlackRock in client meetings, workshops, seminars, conferences, and industry forums, communicating investment applications and market perspectives to sophisticated audiences.
  • Maintain a detailed understanding of clients’ organizational structures, investment objectives, benchmarks, portfolios, and evolving priorities to support relevant and timely engagement.
  • Provide actionable market and competitive intelligence to shape distribution strategy, product enhancements, and new-product development in response to investment trends, regulatory developments, and portfolio activity.
  • Support the development of a South Korea digital-assets distribution plan, positioning the business to act when local market and regulatory conditions permit.
  • Maintain disciplined operational execution, documentation, and controls while contributing to a collaborative, client-focused culture of excellence in a fast-paced environment.

Your experience

  • 7+ years of experience in a high-quality, multi-product investment management or wealth management firm, with demonstrated success selling investment products and developing commercial opportunities with sophisticated institutional or intermediary clients.
  • Strong relationship-management and consultative-sales capabilities, with experience influencing stakeholders at multiple levels, delivering client presentations, and holding any locally required licenses or registrations.
  • Strong knowledge of investment products, with familiarity with exchange-traded funds (ETFs), including their mechanics and applications, as well as index and index-linked strategies; experience with structured or derivatives products is advantageous.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, exercise sound judgment, prioritize competing opportunities, and build trusted relationships with consistently high standards of professional integrity.
  • Understanding of the South Korean regulatory and distribution environment, together with the ability to assess medium- and long-term opportunities for iShares.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, with the ability to prepare analysis, reports, presentations, and client-ready materials.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience; a Master of Business Administration or Chartered Financial Analyst designation is preferred. Native-level Korean proficiency and strong proficiency in written and spoken business English are required.
