Amazon Robotics is seeking a skilled Industrial maintenance technician to oversee the installation and maintenance of our industrial equipment. As an industrial maintenance technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our machinery and mechanical equipment. This will include installing new equipment, performing regular services and maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting equipment breakdowns.
To ensure success as an industrial maintenance technician, you should have advanced mechanical knowledge of industrial machinery, excellent troubleshooting skills, and good time-management skills. Ultimately, a top-class industrial maintenance technician boosts production by ensuring all production equipment functions correctly and receives regular maintenance




Key job responsibilities
Specialized Equipment Scope
You are the site technical resource across the following:
• Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT) - sit-down and stand-up forklifts, electric pallet jacks, walkie riders. Sets and enforces travel-lane, load-height, and dock-loading standards; owns operator qualification currency for the shift.
• Scissor lifts and aerial work platforms - pre-use inspection, fall-protection expectations, restricted-area and low-clearance controls.
• Cranes and hoists - rigging selection, load ratings, sling and hook inspection, periodic-inspection compliance, and safe lift planning for drive-unit and subassembly handling.
• WorkSmart stations - station configuration, guided-build sequencing, and troubleshooting following the Line 4 / Line 5 WorkSmart conversion.
• Knight lift-assist and articulating torque-arm systems - setup, balance and reach adjustment, torque-reaction troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance.
• Lift assists and lift tables - including the 600-03252 lift-table build; ergonomic setup, capacity verification, and pinch and crush-point guarding.
• End effectors and build tooling - changeover, alignment, wear inspection, and coordination with Engineering on tooling revisions.
• Torque tooling and fastening systems - DC electric and pneumatic torque tools, torque-arm integration, calibration currency, and NOK (not-OK fastening) rundown troubleshooting.
• Controls and drive systems - PLC and control-system troubleshooting, AC/DC motors, starters, relays, VFDs, and power and control wiring.
• Fluid power and conveyance - pneumatics, hydraulics, gearboxes, cylinders, pumps, valves, conveyor and material-handling systems.
Leadership, Communication, and Daily Operating Rhythm
• Serve as the first line of communication to leadership on workcenter, equipment, and process performance, blockers, and team status.
• Communicate status, escalations, and blockers with cross-functional leads in upstream and downstream processes, and share lessons learned to drive continuous organizational improvement.
• Partner with your Operations Manager to plan and execute daily activities and assign tasks within the work group; re-prioritize in real time as production demand shifts.
• Lead daily team meeting facilitation and end-of-shift reporting, and coordinate efforts to minimize production interruptions.
• Provide clear written and verbal instructions to group members and promptly address process or technical questions and concerns.
• Resolve team work blockers and general team needs; escalate what you cannot resolve with a recommendation attached.
• Educate cross-functional peers and leaders across the organization about your process path.
Technical Ownership and Problem Solving
• Act as the subject matter expert on all process paths within your area of responsibility, and be the first point of contact for process issues - including providing guidance when the team needs to deviate from written instructions.
• Troubleshoot equipment, controls, and process problems, including tasks with no existing documentation, and escalate with supporting data when resolution is not achievable.
• Make and support decisions involving resource constraints, balancing competing priorities across the workcenter.
• Troubleshoot issues encountered by peers across the specialized equipment set and on the manufacturing systems that support it.
• Lead root-cause analysis on repeat equipment failures and fastening or torque defects, and drive the corrective action to closure.
• Execute to, and where needed define, straightforward work instructions while validating SOPs; own SOP accuracy for your equipment.
Preventive Maintenance and Equipment Readiness
• Own and improve preventive maintenance schedules for the specialized equipment set; verify completion and quality of PM execution rather than only performing it.
• Install new equipment and coordinate commissioning, working from technical manuals, engineering drawings, and vendor documentation.
• Identify and order replacement parts, and maintain inventory records for equipment and spares.
• Inspect equipment operating conditions, identify root causes of recurring equipment problems, and drive permanent fixes over repeat repairs.
• Prepare and submit maintenance reports; maintain equipment history and calibration currency.
• Support the equipment readiness portion of new product introduction and line-conversion work, including Proteus GEN2 and future line expansion.
Performance, Quality, and Continuous Improvement
• Review team performance metrics - non-conformances generated, throughput, machine efficiency, downtime, and first pass yield (FPY) - to ensure conformance to operational goals, and act on what the data shows.
• Set expectations for productivity and quality standards by role modeling best practices.
• Lead process improvement initiatives including 6S, Kaizen, and safety projects, with a defined deliverable and a measurable result.
• Review, and where required perform, first article builds from engineering drawings, models, or specifications; support development articles with more limited engineering definition.
Safety Leadership
• Role model job and site safety standards and operations protocol while ensuring team compliance - not only personal compliance.
• Escalate safety issues and follow up corrective actions to verified closure.
• Own the caught-and-crush, pinch-point, and ergonomic risk controls associated with lift assists, torque arms, cranes and hoists, and PIT operations.
• Support pre-shift safety briefs, submit and follow up DragonFly submissions, and support incident documentation in AUSTIN.
• Verify operator qualification currency for PIT, scissor lift, and crane and hoist before assigning work on that equipment.
Training and Development
• Develop training plans for your team and be responsible for implementing training programs within your department.
• Support new-hire training programs and contribute to the development and modification of existing training material.
• Train peers on equipment operation, technical procedures, and operational improvement opportunities; build and maintain the qualification matrix for your equipment set.
• Develop successors - identify and grow the Specialist Technician II and III population toward the next level.

Basic Qualifications

- Experience in English-language communication skills, both written and verbal
- Can lift up to 49 pounds, stand/walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours, and be able to frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach
- Experience in high-volume manufacturing operations or sourcing environments

Preferred Qualifications

- Knowledge of automated material handling systems, packaging technologies and storage solutions
- Experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing
- Experience in computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Experience with Oracle ERP software and manufacturing execution systems

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
