Job Description

For the Thermofisher Purification Global FSD team & Japan region, and in close team work with the other Engineering project managers and the Vessel Quality Engineer, Manage projects from quotation to delivery for Process Hardware (vessels & skids)

Based on the existing plate-form of Housing products (hardware), the missions consist of (not exhaustive list)

Propose “Design To Cost” solutions when required Approve Design related Technical Data package (design, calculation...) provided by vendors Manage, under the Eng’r Mng’r direction, the existing vessels families (includes proposal for design changes to stay align with regulation evolution) and owns Vessel portfolio Legal Design Authority Insure the proper support in field of competencies and responsibilities when customer order is placed (technical aspects, quality and compliance of proposed solutions)

Support the Developing & maintaining of a pool of capable and qualified vendors and the enhancing of Partnership (for specials and Standard housings)

Understand vendors strategy, flexibility, capabilities, capacities & performances in his field of responsibilities (Design and sizing optimization, compliance to regulation…) Support the qualifying and maintaining of the quality sustainability of the vendors when relevant and in his field of responsibility

Project management – Continuous improvement on operational projects

On the base of project management and when required by the business / Marketing, through the Eng’r Mngr direction, support the projects for new products development – Able to lead projects in that field Run assigned scoped projects in defined timing, with resources assigned (budget where applicable, project team and skills) and quality (delivering expected outcomes) Could be assigned to run customer’s vessels/metals eng’r project upon needs  

Education

Engineer graduate or equivalent, with a mechanical speciality.

English language – Spoken, Written

Experience

  • 5 to 8 years in a similar position with experience in similar products and similar markets
  • Mechanical experience related to fluid process equipment, i.e. pressure vessels, piping, valves, pumps, etc. 
  • Working experience in a manufacturing organization
  • Some experience with an MRP system (JDE,E2,SAP....)
  • Experience in project management through similar industrial products and with Lean Six Sigma tools.

Knowledge

Company knowledge: It’s required to well understand and apprehend different roles and organisation like business teams (sales, Mktg, RSMM), the supporting organisations (supply chain, CSD, sourcing…) and all interactions

Demonstrated skills and mastering of applicable regulation ( on pressure vessels etc…), with a very good understanding of the applicable standards and regulation for the market we serve (pharma, biotech, …- FDA, AFSAPSS ; food – EHEDG ; Industries – Oil and Gas, Paint, automobile, nuclear, military industry… ), good knowledge of the key customers processes, very good understanding of the qualified vendors capabilities and manufacturing processes and performances

  • Design skills in pressurized equipment and a working knowledge of codes/standards related to fluid process equipment
  • Manufacturing background that includes metal fabrication, precision machining, mechanical assembly, and testing
  • Capable of working independently to develop concepts and cost-effective designs
  • Good organizational skills - capable of handling multiple assignments
  • Ability to « supervize » and coordinate activity for subcontracted jobs (design and calculation)  
  • Ability to analyze and resolve problems and make recommendations
  • Strong technical analysis and communication skills.
  • Effective written and oral skills
  • Project management skills – ability to lead a team in a project to achieve expected outcomes  
  • Methodology, rigourness, ability to analyse complex situations and to propose adequate solutions
  • Is capable to make commitments and to stick to it (eg: lead time, costs…)
  • Very good sense of customer service (that does include internal and external customers)
  • Ability to adopt and deploy Lean model whenever relevant
  • Is a key driver for continuous improvement
  • Is subject to have some visits to vendors and customers when the mission requires it
