The job
Are you passionate about applying your chemistry expertise to solve real-world challenges? This 18-month fixed-term role is ideal for scientists who enjoy combining technical problem-solving with meaningful customer interaction.
As a Technical Application Scientist II, you will partner with researchers and customers to resolve complex chemistry-related questions that directly impact their success and the effective use of Thermo Fisher Scientific products. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions, while continuously expanding your technical knowledge across a diverse chemical product portfolio.

What will you do
- Provide expert-level technical support for Thermo Fisher Scientific chemical product portfolios by addressing customer inquiries via telephone, email, and web chat.
- Own and manage technical cases from initial inquiry through resolution, ensuring timely, high-quality customer support.
- Collaborate with internal teams including Quality Assurance and Product Management to resolve complex technical issues and identify effective solutions.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of customer interactions within CRM systems to support service excellence and continuous improvement.
- Proactively recommend enhancements to technical knowledge bases, websites, processes and other company-managed resources to improve usability and customer experience.
- Invest in your professional development through ongoing product training, continuous learning, and exposure to new applications and emerging technologies.
- Participate in cross-functional projects and special initiatives to broaden technical expertise and career development opportunities.
Education and competencies required
- Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
- 1–5 years of hands-on laboratory experience, with demonstrated ability to troubleshoot experiments and interpret scientific data.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Customer-focused mindset with a passion for delivering high-quality scientific support.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
- Fluency in German and English (required). Additional language (Spanish, French or Italian) is a plus.
