Join our colleagues in bringing our Mission to life every single day to enable our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer. We provide our global teams with the resources needed to achieve individual career goals while helping to take science a step beyond by developing solutions for some of the world’s toughest challenges, like protecting the environment, making sure our food is safe or helping find cures for cancer.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer to join a growing R&D team in Hyderabad supporting sustaining engineering, VAVE, and lifecycle management for the KingFisher sample preparation systems and Detection instruments.

In this role, you will serve as a technical lead for electrical engineering initiatives, driving design improvements, resolving complex technical issues, and ensuring robust electrical system performance across product lifecycles. You will play a key role in sustaining and VAVE efforts, while contributing to system-level integration and helping build capability toward future product development ownership.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Engineering Leadership

  • Act as a technical lead for electrical systems and subsystems, including PCBAs, power systems, signal integrity, and embedded interfaces.
  • Lead design, analysis, and troubleshooting of electrical components and systems.
  • Drive root cause investigations for electrical and system-level issues, including field failures and quality signals.
  • Support design trade-offs and component selection to optimize performance, cost, and reliability.

Sustaining Engineering & Lifecycle Management

  • Lead electrical engineering workstreams for sustaining activities, including design updates, component obsolescence, and supplier changes.
  • Ensure electrical designs meet reliability, manufacturability, and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with global teams to support knowledge transfer and maintain product continuity.

Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VAVE)

  • Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities within electrical designs and components.
  • Collaborate with sourcing and manufacturing to evaluate alternative components, suppliers, and architectures.
  • Support design for cost and scalability initiatives across platforms.

System Integration & Technical Contribution

  • Collaborate with systems, mechanical, and software teams to ensure robust system integration.
  • Contribute to system requirements, interface definitions, and verification activities.
  • Provide input to technology and product roadmap discussions from an electrical engineering perspective.

Global & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with global R&D teams (Finland, US, Singapore) to support technical alignment and knowledge transfer.
  • Partner with Business Unit Product Management to align engineering execution with product priorities.
  • Interface with manufacturing, quality, service, and sourcing to resolve issues and improve product performance.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to building electrical engineering capability within the team.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in electrical engineering for complex products or instrumentation.
  • Strong experience in PCB design, analog/digital circuits, and system-level electrical integration.
  • Proven ability in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and design improvements.
  • Experience working in cross-functional and global engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with life sciences or analytical instrumentation (e.g., sample prep, PCR/qPCR).
  • Experience with VAVE, component cost optimization, and design for manufacturability.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards and design controls for electronic systems.
  • Experience with embedded systems, firmware interfaces, or signal integrity analysis.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate across teams.

Impact

  • Serves as a technical lead for electrical engineering initiatives across platforms.
  • Drives sustaining engineering and VAVE execution within electrical domains.
  • Contributes to system-level performance and reliability improvements.
  • Supports the development of R&D capability in Hyderabad.
