How you will make an impact:

The Analytical Instruments Group (AIG) is comprised of businesses that partner with our customers across the life sciences and laboratory workflows. This role is part of the Chromatography & Mass Spectrometry Division (CMD) within AIG.

The FP&A Senior Manager supports Senior Director Commercial Finance for Thermo Fisher’s CMD business. The role is responsible for managing the FPA Deliverables for Global Commercial and will lead an FP&A team along with critical dotted line reporting structures. This role will improve analytics and ensure strong financial controls and timely and accurate financial reporting. In addition, the position holder will provide valuable decision support, identify, and implement operational improvement opportunities and develop a strong finance team. 

What you will do:

• Provide day-to-day finance leadership for Commercial FP&A, Deal Desk and business partnership for the division’s operating teams to drive business performance 

• Drive monthly forecasting, annual operating plan, and future planning (AOP / STRAP), Quarterly Business Reviews (QBR), in a matrixed environment, ensuring financial decisions support company goals and current market conditions. 

• Monitor and analyze financials, including leading monthly and quarterly reporting (e.g. revenue, bookings, OPEX, KPI's, CAPEX) 

• Analyze financial and business performance against key business metrics and identify pertinent financial highlights, enabling understanding of progress against strategic business plans

• Utilize data visualization tools and AI-enabled analytics to improve FPA and Deal Desk processes, identify growth opportunities, and generate actionable insights 

• Develops high quality effective presentations (i.e. engaging, motivating, concise, well-prep) with forward-looking insights that connect market trends, financial performance, and business strategy.

• Continuously drive operational improvements (PPI) in Commercial Finance and Deal Desk processes


• Build and develop a high performing team


How you will get here:

Requirements

• Advanced Degree plus 6 years of experience, or Bachelor's Degree plus 8 years of experience in progressive finance, including financial planning & analysis, reporting and analytics

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• An ideal candidate will possess excellent academic credentials and strong finance skills

• Advanced analytical modelling and storytelling skills, with strong experience in Excel, Power BI, AI-enabled analytics 

• Prior experience in a large global company and highly matrixed organization 

• Proficient verbal and written communication skills

• Proven business partner and influencer

Travel requirements

• 10% domestic/international travel required
