Position: System Development Engineer II - AMZ27600.1
Location: Chicago, IL
Multiple Positions Available:
Build tools that automate and streamline processes to make fleet operations more efficient. Respond to large scale events involving these fleets. Diagnose and fix critical software and system failures. Serve as a mentor and resource to other engineers and assist in training new engineers. Provide first line of defense daytime support for operational tickets for all software development teams within the organization. Propose, drive and implement technical solutions for automation, efficiency and scalability. Partner with the software development teams to support corporate infrastructure systems and perform database queries (SQL) using Window, Linux or Unix based operating systems and SQL Server databases. Provide support and technical consultation to Amazon internal customers.
(40 hours / week, 8:00am-5:00pm, Salary Range $129200 - $174800)

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field and one year of experience in the job offered, or as a Systems Administrator, or a related occupation. Employer will accept three years of experience in the job offered or related as equivalent to the Bachelor's degree and one year of experience. Must have one year of experience in the following skill(s): supporting large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services; designing and implementing platforms to deliver provisioning using shell scripting; experience with programming languages including SQL, PowerShell, Perl, Bash, Python, PHP, or Ruby; supporting and maintaining database servers including MySQL, Oracle, or equivalent database; and troubleshooting systemic problems in a Windows, Linux, or Unix based environment.The pay range for this position in Chicago, IL is $129200 - $174800 (yr); however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience A sign-on bonus and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
