Job Description

OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE

·  Provide advanced Architectural Engineering expertise supporting pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities and engineering activities across the project lifecycle.

·  Develop and review architectural concepts, facility layouts, cleanroom designs, and building solutions that support GMP, quality, regulatory, safety, sustainability, and business requirements.

·  Support the Head of CSA in maintaining technical excellence, standardization, and discipline performance.

·  Drive innovation, sustainability, and continuous improvement through digital and data-driven engineering practices. 

Accountabilities

Architectural Expertise & Design Support

• Provide advanced technical expertise for architectural engineering and facility planning activities.
• Support facility concepts, space planning, cleanroom enclosure strategies, and architectural design reviews.
• Ensure building layouts support operational efficiency, GMP requirements, personnel and material flows, and future flexibility.
• Coordinate interfaces with Process Engineering, Process Architecture, Laboratory Engineering, Facilities & Utilities, Automation Design, and Design Delivery teams.

Technical Leadership

• Perform technical reviews and quality checks of architectural deliverables.
• Support technical decision-making and problem resolution.
• Mentor and coach Architectural Engineers.
• Support development and implementation of architectural standards, templates, and best practices.

Quality, Compliance & Governance

• Ensure designs align with GMP requirements, Takeda standards, and applicable industry regulations.
• Ensure compliance with building codes, life safety requirements, cleanroom requirements, accessibility standards, and architectural best practices.
• Participate in risk assessments, audits, governance activities, and lessons learned programs.
• Support compliance and inspection readiness activities.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

• Promote sustainable building design, digital engineering, BIM, and data-driven decision making.
• Identify opportunities to improve building performance, user experience, sustainability, flexibility, and engineering quality.
• Support standardization and reuse of architectural solutions.
• Contribute to development of standards, templates, and best practices.

EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS: 

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, or related discipline.
• Master's Degree preferred.

Experience

• 7+ years of architectural engineering experience within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, laboratory, or regulated industries.
• Experience supporting GMP manufacturing facilities and laboratories.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering organizations.
• Experience across Concept, FEED, Detailed Design, and Construction Support phases.
