Job Description

OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE

·  Lead the CSA function within the GCC and provide expertise supporting civil, structural, and architectural design activities for pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities.

·  Build and develop CSA capabilities, talent, technical expertise, and succession pipelines within the GCC.

·  Drive engineering excellence, innovation, sustainability, and continuous improvement through digital and data-driven engineering practices.

·  Ensure CSA solutions support GMP, quality, regulatory, safety, sustainability, and business requirements.

Accountabilities

Functional Leadership

• Lead and develop CSA engineering capabilities across the GCC.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, succession planning, and capability development.
• Establish engineering standards, best practices, and technical development plans.
• Foster a culture of engineering excellence and continuous improvement.

CSA Expertise & Design Support

• Provide technical leadership for civil, structural, and architectural engineering activities.
• Support facility planning, building design, site development, and architectural design reviews.
• Coordinate interfaces with Process Engineering, Facilities & Utilities, Automation Design, Digital Manufacturing, and project teams.
• Support development and adoption of CSA engineering standards and best practices.

Quality, Compliance & Governance

• Ensure designs align with GMP requirements, Takeda standards, and applicable industry regulations.
• Ensure compliance with building codes, structural standards, life safety requirements, and engineering best practices.
• Lead technical reviews, risk assessments, governance activities, and lessons learned.
• Support compliance and inspection readiness initiatives.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

• Promote sustainable building design, digital engineering, and data-driven decision making.
• Identify opportunities to improve space utilization, building performance, sustainability, and engineering quality.
• Drive standardization and reuse of CSA solutions.
• Support development of standards, templates, and best practices.

EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS: 

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architecture, or related discipline.
• Master's Degree preferred.

Experience

• 15+ years of CSA experience within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or regulated industries.
• Experience supporting GMP manufacturing facilities and capital projects.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and capability development initiatives.
