Franchise Head
Job Description
The incumbent will be responsible for leading the implementation of AstraZeneca Pakistan business strategy, manage distributors, & other local and above country stakeholders reporting into Commercial Operations Gulf & Country Director Pakistan. The role requires experience of strategic business planning as well as operational expertise to oversee tactical implementation and legal entity requirements. Ensure performance objectives are achieved in line with the agreed business KPIs working closely with local distributors & leveraging AstraZeneca matrix organization. Incumbent should also possess strong capability to drive excellence, actively identifying gaps, de-risk business & assure audit readiness by working with cross functional matrix teams.
Typical Accountabilities
Franchise Leadership and Commercial Execution
· Leads all franchise commercial activities across Pakistan, including Sales strategy and execution with a patient-centric approach.
· Executes localized franchise strategy anchored in Global strategy, including brand plans, launch plans, performance reviews, and strategic integration of an expanding portfolio with synergies across brands.
· Identifies and executes new brand, existing brand, and trade opportunities; supervises use of market data to build market models that optimize product strategies.
· Owns forecasting and P&L delivery: sets assumptions, tracks insights and trends, and manages resources and budgets.
· Drives brand plan execution and KPIs through cross-functional collaboration; plans, monitors, and reports team activities per AZ standards and timelines.
· Develops communication and campaign materials, manages external agencies, and ensures required sign-off.
Team Leadership and Capability Building
· Leads, coaches, and mentor direct reports and matrix teams to ensure high performance, development, and cross-functional collaboration.
· Develops and manages relationships with KEEs, in collaboration with Medical and senior leadership; supports government affairs and market access to enable policy shaping and portfolio growth.
· Engages above market with global/regional teams to share best practices and ensure quality deliverables.
Launch Excellence Framework and Cross-Franchise Strategy
· Coordinates and owns launch excellence processes for new assets/indications.
· Partners with BUD to build the long-term strategic plan, including capability assessment, collaboration projects, and synergy identification and execution.
· Proactively identifies business challenges/opportunities and ensures aligned execution across markets & functions.
Business Planning & Operations
· Coordinates and supervises the business planning cycle; ensures alignment across therapeutic areas and brands.
· Controls and monitors all costs and utilisation to support the achievement of operational plans within budget
· Ensures performance objectives are achieved and in line with business strategy and business objectives
· Leads deep dives to accelerate patient identification, referral/linkage to care, and patient maintenance across franchises.
· Oversees project/vendor management to address identified opportunities/challenges.
· Utilizes complex analytical and statistical methods to generate Insights/Analytics that influence sales and marketing strategy.
· Responsible for the overall management of the Distributor and co-ordinate all activities under the Distributor Management Framework.
Ethics and Compliance
· Demonstrates and enforces high ethical standards; ensures compliance with AZ Code of Conduct, policies, local laws, and marketing procedures.
· Timely reporting (as per procedures) of health/environment/wellbeing incidents, adverse events, and conflicts of interest.
