Original job description

Content provided by the employer

Amazon Ads operates at the intersection of eCommerce and advertising, helping advertisers reach customers across Amazon.com, owned-and-operated properties, and third-party surfaces at massive scale. As AI fundamentally reshapes how advertising products are built, launched, and operated, Release Management has become a strategic function -- not just a coordination layer.

We are looking for a Principal Product Release Manager to define and lead the global release management strategy for Amazon Ads' AI-powered advertising products and tools for our Services org. This role sets the standard for how AI solutions are evaluated, launched, and continuously improved across Services, acting on behalf of advertising customers. You will establish the mechanisms, frameworks, and organizational muscle that allow Amazon Ads to ship AI capabilities with speed, rigor, and confidence -- at a scale and complexity no prior release model was designed to handle.

Key job responsibilities
While Product and Science leaders drive AI product vision, model development, and technical requirements, Principal Release Managers provide data-driven, cross-product business understanding of AI release impact and success. They drive shared goals and gain investment prioritization alignment across the AI product portfolio. They coordinate large, multi-functional launches on-time, anticipate bottlenecks unique to AI systems (model readiness, evaluation gaps, probabilistic output risk), provide escalation management, make trade-offs, and balance business needs versus technical constraints. They review AI product workflow design and balance near-term business need with longer-term CX and operational implications for Amazon. They rationalize business priorities and technical requirements with cross-functional teams -- including Science, Engineering, Product, and Services -- effectively managing communication to ensure all stakeholder needs are aligned.

Basic Qualifications

- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
- Experience leading complex programs with significant change impact across organizational boundaries
- Experience demonstrating strong analytical abilities and confidence in the use of data
- Experience working with technical and product stakeholders to define requirements, prioritize features, and influence product roadmaps
- Experience owning and driving large-scale cross-functional programs
- Experience with written and verbal communication and presentation

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in online or digital advertising
- Experience with and deep understanding of advertising technologies (i.e., ad server, DSP)
- Experience running user trials, beta, field testing or collecting customer feedback
- Experience leveraging technology to drive process improvements
- Direct experience launching AI/ML products or agentic systems, with working knowledge of the operational and CX risks specific to probabilistic outputs
