Associate Corporate Counsel, AWS Legal

Join Amazon's Legal Department as an Associate Corporate Counsel supporting AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services. You'll serve as a trusted advisor to business leadership, negotiate complex cloud technology transactions, and develop innovative solutions that enable us to scale legal support to our global client base.

Key job responsibilities
- Draft, negotiate, and finalize terms for complex, high-value cloud technology transactions, demonstrating sound judgment in ambiguous situations and balancing legal risk with business objectives
- Provide ongoing legal counsel and contract interpretation guidance to AWS business team members, serving as a trusted advisor on transactional and commercial matters
- Manage legal issues that arise in existing commercial relationships, working to resolve disputes and maintain strong client partnerships
- Advise business leadership on legal risk associated with new business initiatives and market opportunities
- Address pre-litigation legal disputes and inquiries, working collaboratively with business teams to develop appropriate responses and resolutions

A day in the life
As an Associate Corporate Counsel on the AWS legal team, you'll engage in meaningful work that directly impacts how we serve our customers worldwide. Your day might include drafting and negotiating terms for complex, high-value cloud technology transactions, collaborating with sales and marketing teams to understand their business objectives, and providing guidance to support their decision-making. You'll also advise on issues within existing commercial relationships and risk associated with new business initiatives, and support pre-litigation legal disputes and inquiries. Throughout your work, you'll balance independent project ownership with collaboration across our legal team and the business, contributing your perspective to help us find creative solutions that scale our legal capabilities globally.

Basic Qualifications

- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
- 2+ years of post bar admission legal experience

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with in-house work at a technology or internet company
- Knowledge of IT infrastructure, outsourcing, telecommunications, cloud computing services or equivalent
- Experience managing multiple projects and priorities across teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Experience drafting and negotiating complex contracts

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
