Title and Summary
Manager, Authentication Product Management-1Overview-Mastercard is seeking an experienced Product Manager to help drive the developmentand adoption of digital payment credential solutions across Europe, with a particular focus on
the European Digital Identity Wallet (EUDI Wallet) ecosystem.
Role-This role will play a key part in shaping Mastercard's strategy and execution within
industry initiatives, pilot programs, and standards activities related to digital identity, authentication, and payments. The successful candidate will work across a broad network of internal and external stakeholders to define product strategies, support solution delivery, and drive industry collaboration.
In this product management position, you will: ·
• Support regional product strategies for Digital Payment Credentials and digital wallet solutions, particularly within the European Digital Identity Wallet ecosystem.
• Lead Mastercard's participation in strategic European digital identity and digital credential initiatives, supporting the end-to-end delivery of innovative payment and authentication use cases.
• Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders on digital credential initiatives across Europe.
• Coordinate complex multi-stakeholder programs involving financial institutions, wallet providers, merchants, technology partners, regulators, and industry bodies.
• Define project scope, requirements, success criteria, implementation plans, testing activities, and delivery milestones.
• Manage partner onboarding, readiness assessments, implementation support, and ongoing stakeholder engagement.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, architecture, authentication, and user experience teams to deliver high-quality, user-centric solutions.
• Track risks, issues, dependencies, and key decisions across internal and external stakeholders, escalating where necessary.
• Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, standards, and regulatory developments to inform product direction.
• Support Mastercard's go-to-market strategy for digital credential solutions through the development of internal and external thought leadership, educational materials, and market-facing content.
• Prepare executive updates and recommendations, clearly communicating progress, opportunities, risks, and strategic considerations.
All About You:
The ideal candidate for this position should have:
• Strong interest in digital identity, digital credentials, authentication technologies, and payments.
• Experience in product management, program/project management roles within payments, banking, fintech, technology, or digital identity ecosystems.
• Ability to understand and discuss technical concepts with engineering, architecture, and solution teams.
• Ability to navigate complex, multi-stakeholder environments involving internal teams, customers, partners, industry groups, and public-sector stakeholders.
• Strong leadership, influencing, and stakeholder management skills, including engagement with senior executives and external partners.
• Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and driving alignment across product, technology, business, legal, and operational teams.
• Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution and delivery.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to structure ambiguity and drive outcomes.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex topics clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience managing project plans, dependencies, risks, issues, and executive reporting.
• Understanding of the European regulatory landscape, including eIDAS 2.0, PSD2, PSD3, PSR, and their impact on digital identity, authentication, and payments.
• Comfortable working in an international environment with geographically distributed teams and partners.
• Master’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline.
• Fluency in English; additional European languages are an asset.
Nice to Have:
• Experience with European digital identity initiatives and wallet ecosystems.
• Familiarity with card payments, tokenization, strong customer authentication, EMV 3DS, or digital credential-based solutions.
• Experience participating in industry consortia, ecosystem partnerships, pilot programs, or standards-related initiatives.
