Job Description

He/she will execute product and disease-awareness communications for BMS's Oncology and Immunology portfolio in Japan, supporting upcoming launches and milestone communications for growth and next-wave products. The position plays a critical role in positioning BMS as a trusted, patient-centric partner for oncology and immunology patients, their families, and healthcare communities.

The successful candidate will be an effective, empathetic communicator with strong strategic and execution capabilities and – uniquely for this role – hands-on experience running external digital communications (owned digital, SNS, disease-awareness content) alongside media-driven visibility building. Fluency in Japanese and English and the ability to translate science into meaningful awareness, product communications, and advocacy initiatives are essential.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead product communications and patient advocacy for BMS's Oncology/Immunology TA portfolio and milestone communications for approvals, strategically driving communications for product milestones such as approval and launch.
  • Own external digital communications for the TA: plan and produce content for owned digital assets – disease-awareness microsites, SNS, and corporate web contributions – translating scientific data into accessible patient- and HCP-facing content; serve as the CA team's digital communications lead for owned-channel strategy.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders – mainly commercial business units, medical, GA and R&D, as well as Global counterparts – to identify communications opportunities that generate publicity while maintaining compliance.
  • Strategize and manage patient advocacy programs with named Oncology/Immunology PAGs, including the Japan Lung Cancer Alliance, One Step (lung cancer), and Inspire Japan, among others – seizing patient needs and tailor-making impactful projects for each partnering organization.
  • Fill gaps in disease/treatment awareness among patients, their families, and society, and empower patients to make informed choices and improve their quality of life (QOL).
  • Contribute up to 20% of time to enterprise/corporate communications; handle other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong written and oral communication skills in Japanese and English.
  • Demonstrated experience planning and executing external digital communications (owned digital/SNS strategy, content development, digital analytics/engagement measurement).
  • Proven track record building media relationships and driving public-awareness campaigns through both mass media and digital/social channels.
  • Proactivity and a high level of personal accountability.
  • Strong ability to deliver in a timely manner under pressure and juggle multiple tasks across concurrent launches.
  • Strong ability to partner with internal and external stakeholders, including patient advocacy groups.
  • Experience in the healthcare industry or other relevant sectors required – either in agency or in-house setting.
  • Strong business acumen and agility.
  • AI and Digital platform skill.
