The role is responsible for helping the business navigate complex regulatory requirements, supervisory expectations and strategic change, providing practical, risk-based advice that supports both compliance and commercial objectives. The successful candidate will combine deep expertise in payments and financial services regulation with strong stakeholder management, sound judgement and the ability to translate regulatory requirements into effective business outcomes.

Operating within a complex global matrix, the successful candidate will influence stakeholders across key business and control functions. They will promote consistency in regulatory strategy and execution across jurisdictions, driving global alignment where appropriate while balancing local regulatory requirements and ensuring regulatory commitments, supervisory expectations and regulated entity obligations are met.

The role requires a collaborative and solutions-oriented leader with strong execution discipline, commercial awareness and the ability to influence outcomes at senior levels.

What we expect of you, day by day:

Regulatory advisory & oversight

  • Provide expert regulatory advice across UK and European payments, e-money and regulated financial services activities.

  • Support new products, strategic initiatives, business change and market expansion through practical, risk-based regulatory guidance.

  • Interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into clear, actionable business outcomes.

  • Maintain an effective regulatory compliance framework aligned with regulatory obligations, supervisory expectations and business objectives.

  • Support the implementation of regulatory change and ongoing compliance with applicable requirements.

  • Identify regulatory implications early and support informed business decision-making.

Regulatory strategy, engagement & governance

  • Shape Visa's regulatory strategy across the UK and Europe by identifying emerging regulatory trends, influencing business planning and supporting long-term strategic decision-making.

  • Lead engagement with regulators, supervisory authorities, auditors and other external stakeholders.

  • Oversee and contribute to regulatory submissions, supervisory responses, examinations and remediation activities.

  • Identify emerging regulatory risks and developments, ensuring appropriate assessment, escalation and resolution.

  • Support effective governance across regulated entities.

  • Provide clear and effective reporting to Boards, Committees and senior management.

Payments, stablecoins & digital assets

  • Provide regulatory oversight across payments, e-money, safeguarding and related regulated activities.

  • Advise on regulatory developments affecting digital assets, stablecoins and other innovative payment solutions.

  • Support Product and business teams in assessing and implementing new offerings in a compliant and commercially practical manner.

  • Monitor UK and European regulatory developments to inform business strategy, product development and compliance activities.

Stakeholder partnership & influence

  • Build trusted relationships across business and control functions.

  • Influence senior stakeholders through credibility, collaboration and sound judgement.

  • Facilitate effective decision-making where regulatory requirements, commercial objectives and operational considerations intersect.

  • Bring together diverse stakeholder groups to deliver practical and sustainable outcomes.

  • Partner across global, regional and local teams to drive alignment on regulatory strategy, influence enterprise-wide approaches and ensure local regulatory requirements and supervisory expectations are appropriately represented.

Leadership & culture

  • Foster a collaborative, high-performing and inclusive team culture.

  • Share expertise and support capability development across the broader Regulatory Compliance function.

  • Demonstrate accountability, ownership and reliability in the delivery of commitments.

  • Promote transparency, integrity and constructive challenge.

  • Encourage knowledge sharing, collaboration and consistent standards across jurisdictions.

  • Provide leadership on complex or sensitive regulatory matters and support colleagues in reaching well-reasoned outcomes.

Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.
