Position Summary

This role is the Digital Transformation Lead for Japan Digital & IT, partnering with business leaders to accelerate business growth and operational excellence through Digital, AI, automation and data-driven innovation. The primary focus is leading business transformation across Commercial, Customer Service, Field Service Engineering, Supply Chain and Shared Services rather than traditional ERP, infrastructure or application support.

The role works closely with customers and frontline teams to identify opportunities and deliver measurable business outcomes. During the first 12 months, the successful candidate will also participate in a structured leadership development plan to prepare for the Director, Japan Digital & IT role, including exposure to governance, financial management, people leadership and regional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

Business & IT Leadership:

  • Partner with Commercial, Customer Service, Field Service, Supply Chain, Finance, HR and Shared Service leaders to identify business opportunities and deliver Digital and AI-enabled transformation
  • Develop and execute Japan Digital Business Transformation roadmap aligned with business priorities
  • Regularly accompany Sales and Field Service Engineers on customer visits to understand customer pain points and translate insights into digital solutions
  • Champion adoption of AI, automation, analytics and digital technologies to improve customer experience, productivity and operational efficiency
  • Lead cross-functional transformation initiatives with Japan, APMEA and Global Digital & IT teams
  • Influence stakeholders without direct authority and ensure measurable business outcomes
  • Build strong relationships across the APMEA Digital & IT leadership network to strengthen collaboration and prepare for future regional leadership responsibilities
  • Dedicate part of the first 12 months to developing Director-level capabilities including financial management, governance, people leadership and strategic planning

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or above
  • 10+ years in Digital Transformation, Business Transformation, Consulting, Commercial Excellence or Customer Experience
  • Strong business background; ERP/infrastructure expertise is not the primary requirement
  • Experience leading cross-functional transformation and influencing senior stakeholders
  • Life Sciences, Healthcare or related industry experience preferred
  • Business-level Japanese and English

Preferred Experience

  • Experience leveraging Generative AI (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, AI agents) and modern digital technologies (e.g., analytics, automation, low-code/no-code platforms) to improve business processes and accelerate digital transformation
  • Experience driving the adoption of AI-enabled solutions through stakeholder engagement, change management, and user enablement
