Job Description

The Director, Flex and Installments Product Development, Issuance will own and drive the growth and enhancement of Visa’s Flex and Installments product suite, which includes Visa Flexible Credential, Visa Installment Credential, Visa Installment Solutions, Visa Transaction Matching Service, Visa Embedded Credential Platform, and future product lines and services. Flex and Installments are key for modernizing credential capability, enabling new income streams, new entrants for faster distribution and accomplishing top-of-wallet status for issuers. This Director will product development enhancements and critical key initiatives to unlock new payment volume aligned to strategic growth imperatives.

Reporting to the Senior Director, this leader will focus on accelerating acceptance growth as well as overall client experience by delivering integrated product experiences, features, and capabilities that address the needs of token requestors, digital wallet providers and even traditional acquirers in a highly competitive landscape and regulatory environment. The role requires a deep understanding of the four-party ecosystem, card-based payments and experiences, with a primary emphasis on the acceptance side, while also understanding the integration points across buyers, issuers, acquirers, sellers, and technology platforms.

This position will be nimble in nature and lead squads of 3–6 highly skilled senior product managers, design and engineering, requiring strong ability to drive outcomes in a matrixed organization. The Director will work closely with various teams across Visa to successfully build, commercialize and scale our business service in new ways, which includes Flex and Installments Product (Issuance), Product Strategy, Solution Enablement, Platform Products, Tokens, OVN. The Director will independently lead drive team outcomes as well focused on authoring requirements, roadmap, prioritization, execution status and delivery, while ensuring commitments are achieved within agreed time, cost, and quality parameters.

This role is global and will need to balance regional and global opportunities to achieve overall solution and platform objectives. Accomplishing this will require ability to drive prioritization decisions, collaborate cross-functionally and influence a complex and highly matrixed organization and provide leadership and clear vision to direct and indirect teams.

Key Responsibilities and Role Expectations:

  • AI-led product innovation: Ideate and deliver new experiences and product innovations through AI tools, focused on accelerated delivery while maintaining high-quality evals
  • Product Suite Ownership: Lead product management for the entire Flex and Installments suite, including current and future products and services.
  • Acceptance Growth Acceleration: Drive product enhancements and solutions that accelerate growth for acceptance players of all sizes and types, including token requestors, digital wallets and strategic partners.
  • Best-in-class client onboarding vision: Modernize the client solutioning and onboarding pathways
  • Integrated Experiences: Deliver seamless, integrated features and functionalities across the Flex and Installments suite, ensuring a unified experience for merchants and cardholders.
  • Customer Obsession: Champion a deep understanding of acceptance, with a relentless focus on improving cardholder experiences both online and face-to-face.
  • Product Development: Oversee the development of new features and solutions, managing build-vs-buy-vs-partner decisions to ensure products deliver competitive value. Global ownership of Flex and Installments Rules, data indicators and mandates, including taking responsibility for any updates and innovations to drive scale and success.
  • Technical Leadership and Influence: Provide technical vision and guidance for the processing platform, ensuring it remains resilient, secure, and capable of supporting Visa’s growth and innovation goals. Influence and align stakeholders in a highly matrixed, global organization.
  • Execution and Management: Lead high-impact initiatives from conception to deployment, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget, while balancing feature development with technical debt reduction and scalability improvements.
  • Adopt agentic and AI-powered development practices, leveraging automated workflows, intelligent tooling, quality gates, testing frameworks, and release processes to accelerate delivery and improve consistency.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner closely with internal teams (Product Strategy, Solution Enablement, Platform Products, Tokens, OVN, Architecture) to define and deliver solutions. Provision of Subject Matter Expertise (SME) support on client activities, client consultation and project delivery across all of Visa’s global regions.
  • Performance Monitoring: Analyze product performance, iterate on solutions, and optimize outcomes using data-driven insights.
  • Team Leadership: Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of senior product managers, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration. Ability to lead a team of highly skilled professionals, supporting career growth of team members.

Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 10 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications

  • 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
  • Proven experience in product management, preferably in payments, fintech, or technology innovation.
  • Deep understanding of network products, processing frameworks, rules, and technology will be required
  • Prior people leadership experience, managing senior-level product managers.
  • Deep expertise in product management tools and frameworks, network processing/platform, and token and API-based product development.
  • Demonstrated success in driving product growth and adoption for issuers and fintechs.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communicator and collaborator, able to influence across teams and regions.
  • Experience managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders, with a strong business acumen.
  • Customer-focused mindset, with ability to research market trends and user needs.
  • Ability to provide technical vision and guidance for platform resilience and scalability.
  • Experience balancing feature development with technical debt reduction and scalability improvements.


Information for US Applicants

For roles located in the US, the estimated salary range for this position is $192,300.00 to $ 307,600.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
