Who We Are Looking For 
 
State Street Investment Management is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for our China office as part of the Information Technology organization. 
The successful candidate will independently design, develop, and enhance business features, support businessasusual (BAU) activities, and troubleshoot and resolve issues for State Street Investment Management applications.

We continue to modernize our technology landscape through cloud adoption, advanced data analytics, and automation initiatives, strengthening our ability to support evolving business needs. 

This is a hands-on role that requires strong full-stack problem-solving skills, deep AI and Agentic Engineering expertise, and a proven track record of delivering enterprise-grade agentic engineering workflow in financial services.   

 

What You Will Be Responsible For 

 

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise web applications and backend services in accordance with established software development lifecycle (SDLC) standards. 

  • Take ownership of assigned applications, components, or services from requirements analysis through production deployment and ongoing support 

  • Ensure applications meet performance, security, availability, and scalability requirements 

  • Diagnose and resolve production issues; perform root cause analysis and implement sustainable fixes 

  • Produce and maintain technical documentation to support application support and future enhancements 

  • Develop and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot: 

Design, build, and support RESTful APIs 

Develop and maintain database solutions, including data modeling and SQL development 

Integrate backend services with frontend applications and third party systems 

Support service oriented and microservices based architectures 

  • Hands-on working knowledge of AWS services such as ECS/EKS, S3, RDS, Lambda, SQS, Secrets Manager, CloudWatch, and related cloud-native tooling.  

  • Practical experience integrating AI/LLM technology (OpenAI, LangChain, or equivalent) into production systems for intelligent automation or data extraction use cases.

Education & Preferred Qualifications/Skills 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or a related field 

  • 3+ years of experience in Software Engineering & Development 

  • Exposure to cloud platforms or container based deployment models; AWS certification (Cloud Practitioner or higher) is preferred; 

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience applying AI technologies — including large language models, AI-assisted development, and intelligent automation — to solve real-world problems and deliver production-grade solutions.
