Job Title: Staff Engineer, Electronics - HW
Location: Guangzhou
Reports to: Senior Manager, Manufacturing Engineering
Group/Division Summary: China Operations (CMC)
Position Summary:
The Staff Engineer will contribute to the design, development and continuous improvement of electronic systems for Scientific Instrument like Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) products and Mass Spectrometry, with a focus on delivering high-quality solutions that address customer and business needs. Also provide technical expertise and engineering support for other analytical instrument platforms, including Chromatography and Spectroscopy, as business priorities require.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop and optimize electronic systems for Mass Spectrometry and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) products across new product development and product enhancement activities.
- Take ownership of key hardware subsystems, including precision analog front-end, RF electronics, detector electronics, high-voltage electronics, embedded control and mixed-signal hardware.
- Support electronic system development for Chromatography, Spectroscopy and other analytical instrument platforms as business needs evolve.
- Collaborate with cross-functional to deliver robust, high-performance and manufacturable hardware solutions throughout the product lifecycle.
- Perform system architecture definition, hardware design, schematic development, PCB design review, hardware debugging, design verification and product validation.
- Drive continuous improvement through technical problem solving, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), reliability enhancement and cost optimization.
- Mentor engineers, participate in technical design reviews and contribute to technology roadmaps and engineering excellence
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or above in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation or a related discipline. Master's or Ph.D. degree is preferred.
- Senior Engineer: typically 10+ years of experience in complex electronic system development.
- Strong background in analog and mixed-signal hardware design with hands-on experience in hardware development from concept through product validation.
- Experience in the following technical areas, at least first two ones:
- Precision analog front-end (AFE) - small signal (uA and even pA level)
- RF electronics, resonant circuits, impedance matching or high-frequency analog design.
- High-voltage electronics
- Proficiency with electronic design tools such as Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro or equivalent.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional and multicultural engineering teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:
- Scientific or analytical instrumentation, including Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Mass Spectrometry, Chromatography, Spectroscopy or related technologies.
- EMC/EMI, signal integrity, power integrity and hardware reliability engineering.
- New Product Introduction (NPI), product enhancement and sustaining engineering.
- Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), FMEA and reliability engineering.
