Microsoft's Corporate Accounting Revenue Recognition team is responsible for the reporting accuracy of billions of dollars of revenue across the world under US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Responsibilities
- Prepare customer contract assessments in compliance with Microsoft’s ASC (Accounting Standards Codification) 606 accounting policies and guidelines to document conclusions and calculate revenue adjustments.
- Assesses contract amendments to draw proper ASC 606 conclusions and determines Day 2 revenue adjustments.
- Engage in discussions with Deal Desk to gather deal specific information and business context required to effectively complete contract reviews and amendment assessments.
- Reviews peer work product for completeness and accuracy once proficiency of product and services knowledge is attained.
- Perform month end close revenue tasks independently.
- Develop deep understanding of MS (Microsoft) revenue policies to effectively pose and field inquiries to/from business partners.
- Identify deal trends to raise for leadership consideration.
- Ability to develop and grow in role and at Microsoft.

Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Business, Accounting /Finance, or related field AND 1+ year(s) accounting or finance experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting /Finance, or related field AND 2+ years accounting or finance experience OR equivalent experience.

- Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local United States government agency customers and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. Additional or Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Business, Accounting /Finance, or related field AND 3+ years accounting or finance experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting /Finance, or related field AND 5+ years accounting or finance experience OR equivalent experience.
- Professional accounting certification such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or equivalent.
- Experience in the technology or software industry and/or with multinationals with multi-product and segment finance roles.
- ASC 606 experience/practical application.
- Solid communication and problem-solving skills to navigate business scenarios.
- Critical thinking, comfortable dealing with ambiguity, tenacity to find answers and reach conclusions, and operational excellence.
- Ability to work both independently and as a team player.
- Solid Microsoft Office application skills, especially Excel.

Accounting IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $77,800 - $153,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $102,200 - $169,900 per year.
