Overview

Every dollar Microsoft earns is recognized by the platforms this team builds. We sit at the intersection of engineering and finance — where distributed systems meet accounting standards, and where a design decision can change how revenue is recognized across the company. We are looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager who finds that intersection energizing rather than intimidating: someone who can hold their own in a conversation about event-driven architecture in the morning and ASC 606 treatment in the afternoon, and who wants to modernize how a hyperscale business closes its books.

This opportunity will allow you to develop deep financial domain expertise that transfers across the industry, build technical credibility with engineering and architecture partners on large-scale distributed systems, and grow your influence with senior finance and business stakeholders.

Microsoft's mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees, we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.

Responsibilities
  • You will drive large, cross-group technical programs end to end — from ambiguous problem statement to shipped outcome — spanning multiple engineering teams, finance stakeholders, and partner organizations across Microsoft's commerce ecosystem.

  • You will own the program rhythm for initiatives that modernize revenue recognition, billing, and financial orchestration at Azure scale, defining milestones, managing dependencies, and making trade-offs visible before they become escalations.

  • Shape solutions alongside engineers and architects from the first whiteboard — stress-testing how designs fit together across teams and surfacing misalignment while it costs a conversation to fix, not a release.

  • Serve as the primary interface between engineering and business, finance, and compliance stakeholders — turning their requirements into build-ready specifications and system behavior into terms they can trust and sign off on.

  • Make the hard trade-offs between speed, cost, and correctness explicit, drive them to a decision, and carry the rationale to leadership in writing that holds up.

  • Prototype with AI before committing engineering time — working demos and agents that settle open questions, pressure-test designs, and show stakeholders the answer instead of describing it.

  • Rethink how the work itself gets done: identify where AI and agentic workflows can absorb recurring product, program, and validation work, prove it on your own workload first, and scale what works.

  • Define what "ready to ship" means for changes where errors are costly, and hold releases to that bar.

  • Run disciplined, lightweight execution — dependencies, risks, and decisions visible at all times, with an owner and a date on everything open.

  • Embody Microsoft's culture and values — a growth mindset, customer obsession, diversity and inclusion, One Microsoft collaboration, and making others better through your work.
