Microsoft AI is the organization that makes humanist, responsible AI to empower people. We are a global network of trailblazers — Product leaders, marketers, developers, scientists, designers, and storytellers. Interconnected by curiosity and driven by possibility, we explore, experiment, and shape the future together.
The role
We’re looking for a Director of Product Marketing, SMB Growth for the Monetization team inside Microsoft AI. You’ll be an individual contributor (no direct reports) joining a team building the infrastructure and solutions to help small and medium businesses thrive in the new AI economy–including the future of digital advertising.
AI is the biggest change to how people find things on the internet since the inventions of search, mobile, and social — and it's moving faster than all three. Most people still browse and search for themselves. Many now just ask an AI assistant for recommendations. And a growing number send an agent to go do the work for them. Three versions of the web, running at once — and every business has to win in all three.
You'll bring our full portfolio of advertising and AI business solutions to small and medium businesses and the channels that serve them. You'll work closely with sales and marketing teams responsible for acquisition, growth, and retention. They run the engine, and you make sure what it's saying is the right solution for a small business, explained in a way that actually lands. You'll also work directly with product and engineering teams on what SMB customers need–how we can help them achieve their goals and solve their biggest pain points. Success looks like more small businesses starting, staying, and growing with Microsoft.
Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.
Starting January 26, 2026, Microsoft AI (MAI) employees who live within a 50- mile commute of a designated Microsoft office in the U.S. or 25-mile commute of a non-U.S., country-specific location are expected to work from the office at least four days per week. This expectation is subject to local law and may vary by jurisdiction.
Responsibilities
- Product Positioning, Messaging & Value Proposition: Own the SMB story. Take a complex, fast-moving portfolio and make it obvious to a business owner with fifteen minutes and no marketing background. Simplification is the craft here. Own product marketing strategy and storytelling for the SMB audience across the advertising and AI business solutions portfolio. Develop clear, compelling positioning and messaging frameworks supported by proof points and aligned across internal stakeholders.
- Go-to-Market Strategy & Execution:
Grow through the product: Partner with product and growth teams on onboarding, activation, and in-product messaging, where most SMB customers actually meet our marketing.
Market at scale: Partner with the Marketing team to run integrated campaigns across web, email, social, search, and partner channels — and use what performs to sharpen what comes next. Make the proof repeatable. Build the case studies, benchmarks, and success stories that let one customer's result convince thousands more.
Develop the go-to-market with the platforms, resellers, and partners that reach small businesses at scale: Build joint positioning, co-marketing, launch plans, and the training and enablement materials partners need to sell on our behalf and convert interest into active advertisers.
- Customer Listening & Market Insights: You'll see the friction and the confusion earliest. Turn it into product priorities. Serve as the voice of the SMB audience to product and engineering teams, informing roadmap priorities and product requirements. Lead customer listening strategies and market intelligence efforts to uncover growth opportunities, inform investment priorities, and shape the product roadmap. Synthesize feedback, and translate insights into actionable recommendations. Conduct competitive analysis to assess market dynamics, identify Microsoft’s differentiation, and anticipate business implications. Drive the development of insights from user research, industry trends, and market signals to influence product and business decisions.
- Growth Mindset & Inclusive Innovation: Champion a culture of continuous learning, AI adoption to accelerate outcomes, and inclusive thinking. Proactively seek feedback from diverse customers and stakeholders to uncover new opportunities. Foster open dialogue, encourage reflection, and ensure all voices are heard in shaping product and marketing strategies.
Strategic Agility & Adaptability: Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity, iterate on new concepts, and respond effectively to changing priorities. Brings a growth mindset, curiosity, and a proactive approach to exploring new ideas and business models.
AI & Emerging Technology Expertise: Ability to use AI to build practical and powerful marketing workflows. Understanding of AI agents and their potential in marketing and advertising scenarios. Awareness of the evolving AI landscape and its implications for monetization.
