Job Description

About this Role:

The Supplier Inclusion & Social Impact Lead owns the global strategy and programs that expand equitable access to Takeda's supply chain and create measurable social value through procurement. The role evolves supplier diversity from a reporting activity into an enterprise capability that identifies, develops, connects, and grows qualified diverse and underrepresented suppliers. It also develops a pragmatic social-impact framework for Procurement, coordinates external partnerships, strengthens Tier 2 participation, and demonstrates how inclusive sourcing can support innovation, resilience, local economic opportunity, and patient and community value.

How you will contribute:

  • Own the global supplier inclusion and social impact strategy, roadmap, service model, governance, and annual priorities.
  • Develop an inclusive supplier pipeline and increase qualified participation in relevant sourcing and supplier development opportunities.
  • Lead supplier identification, verification, onboarding support, matchmaking, mentoring, capacity building, and development programs.
  • Build a globally relevant program that respects regional market maturity, legal requirements, available certifications, and local definitions.
  • Establish social-impact measurement and credible reporting, including direct and Tier 2 supplier participation and economic value indicators.
  • Embed inclusive sourcing practices into category strategies, market scans, sourcing, supplier governance, and enterprise supplier programs.
  • Manage strategic partnerships and represent Takeda in relevant supplier inclusion and social-impact forums.
  • Create internal awareness, tools, guidance, and accountability that enable Procurement teams to act.

Accountabilities:

Strategy, Governance & Regionalization

  • Define the global framework, principles, metrics, market priorities, and maturity roadmap.
  • Develop regional approaches that are legally appropriate and meaningful in local supplier markets.
  • Set standards for data quality, supplier status verification, claims, and external communication.

Supplier Discovery & Opportunity Access

  • Build pipelines of qualified suppliers through databases, events, partnerships, referrals, and category market intelligence.
  • Create transparent matchmaking between suppliers and relevant sourcing opportunities without compromising quality, risk, or business requirements.
  • Partner with Category teams to identify addressable opportunities and remove avoidable participation barriers.

Supplier Development & Capacity Building

  • Design mentoring, readiness assessment, workshops, pitch events, and development pathways.
  • Connect suppliers to technical, commercial, quality, and procurement expertise needed to compete and scale.
  • Track conversion from engagement to qualified opportunity, award, growth, or other defined outcome.

Tier 2 & Strategic Supplier Engagement

  • Develop proportionate Tier 2 expectations and reporting with major suppliers.
  • Collaborate with enterprise suppliers on inclusive supply chain, innovation, and community-value initiatives.
  • Use supplier governance forums to review progress and address barriers.

Social Impact & Measurement

  • Define a focused procurement social-impact framework and outcome measures.
  • Measure supplier participation, spend, opportunity conversion, jobs or local economic indicators where data is credible and appropriate.
  • Develop evidence-based narratives for internal and external reporting and avoid unsupported impact claims.

Partnerships, Advocacy & Capability

  • Manage relationships with relevant certification bodies, industry forums, networks, and community partners.
  • Represent Takeda externally and benchmark practices to improve program effectiveness.
  • Develop Procurement guidance, communications, training, and leadership reporting.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

Required

  • 10+ years of experience in supplier inclusion, supplier diversity, social impact, procurement, economic development, or related programs.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Social Sciences, Sustainability, Community Development, or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience building partnerships and connecting suppliers to commercial opportunities.
  • Strong program design, stakeholder engagement, measurement, and communication capability.
  • Experience operating across regions and navigating differing legal, cultural, and market contexts.
  • Fluent English, written and spoken.

Preferred

  • Master's degree in Business, Social Impact, Sustainability, Public Policy, or related discipline.
  • Pharmaceutical, life sciences, healthcare, or regulated-industry experience.
  • Experience with established supplier inclusion networks, certification bodies, Tier 2 programs, or economic-impact methodologies.
  • Additional language relevant to priority markets.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strategic thinking and practical program design.
  • External partnership development and advocacy.
  • Inclusive stakeholder engagement and cultural awareness.
  • Commercial understanding and supplier-development mindset.
  • Data discipline and credible impact storytelling.
  • Influencing without authority.
  • Executive communication and confident public representation.
