Title and Summary
Manager, Business Development - Strategy & PerformanceOverviewThe Manager, Business Development will support business growth by servicing key client accounts, identifying new commercial opportunities, and providing data-driven insights to inform account and market strategies.
As a key member of the account management team, the role will support the development and execution of account plans and client strategies. This includes coordinating client initiatives, structuring proposals, supporting the activation of new products and services, and ensuring high-quality delivery and client satisfaction.
The role will also partner closely with the Singapore Country Manager and cross-functional stakeholders to analyse business performance, identify market trends and business gaps, and translate insights into actionable recommendations. The individual will leverage Mastercard’s platforms, products, technology, and analytical capabilities to support strategic planning and incremental business growth.
Key Responsibilities
Account Management and Business Development
• Prepare account plans and support the development and execution of account strategies.
• Identify opportunities to grow existing client relationships and generate incremental business.
• Structure customised pitches, business propositions, and proposals based on client needs and data-driven insights.
• Support the onboarding of new clients and the activation of new products, services, and joint marketing initiatives.
• Own and coordinate activities within execution plans to ensure timely delivery and client satisfaction.
• Partner with clients and internal stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into commercially relevant solutions.
• Support overall client servicing and contribute to best-in-class client satisfaction.
Business Analytics and Market Insights
• Use business, financial, and marketing analytics to identify performance drivers, emerging trends, business gaps, and growth opportunities.
• Translate analytical findings into clear and compelling insights for the Country Manager, Account Managers, clients, and other stakeholders.
• Use insights to inform product, account, client, and market strategies.
• Develop data-driven business propositions that support client objectives and Mastercard’s business priorities.
• Analyse the commercial impact of programmes and initiatives, including their contribution to business performance.
• Monitor business performance and recommend corrective actions or new opportunities where appropriate.
• Integrate information and perspectives from multiple sources to support strategic planning and decision-making.
Strategic and Cross-functional Partnership
• Partner closely with the Country Manager on business analysis, market insights, strategic planning, and market priorities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Market Development, Product, Digital, Services, Finance, and Operations, to deliver client and business initiatives.
• Work with internal business partners to understand their needs and translate them into focused analytical and execution plans.
• Participate in client, account, and market planning processes.
• Ensure that analytical work and business development activities are aligned with Mastercard’s business objectives and client requirements.
• Take ownership of deliverables and maintain a high standard of quality across all work.
All About You
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Technology, Marketing, Statistics, or a related discipline. An advanced degree is advantageous.
• Experience in business development, account management, business analytics, consulting, client service, or a related field.
• Strong analytical capabilities, commercial acumen, and strategic planning skills.
• Ability to translate complex business and analytical information into clear, compelling presentations and actionable recommendations.
• Experience developing account plans, business propositions, client proposals, or market strategies.
• Track record of executing initiatives and projects to achieve desired business outcomes.
• Strong client and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to manage expectations effectively.
• Excellent communication, presentation, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
• Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence stakeholders outside the direct reporting structure.
• Self-motivated, intellectually curious, and comfortable working in a dynamic environment.
• Broad understanding of the payments landscape and commercial economics gained through relevant professional experience.
• Prior experience within banking, payments, financial services, or a client-facing commercial environment is preferred.
• Prior experience in consulting and strategy planning is preferred.
