Overview

Microsoft Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) is seeking an EHS Electrical & Process Safety Program Manager to help prevent EHS incidents through disciplined hazard identification, risk assessment, and application of process safety principles across datacenter facilities, infrastructure, and emerging technologies. This role sits within Global EHS Engineering, Strategy & Standards (ESS) organization and partners closely with EHS program owners, regional EHS teams, and Datacenter Engineering and Operations to enable a safe and healthy working environment across Microsoft’s global datacenter portfolio. The successful candidate will identify hazards, analyze consequences and risks, and recommend practical, engineering‑based controls to mitigate risk in alignment with Microsoft standards and regulatory requirements, supporting the safe delivery of Microsoft infrastructure technologies worldwide. This is an individual contributor (IC4) role requiring strong technical judgment, cross‑functional collaboration, and program execution skills.

This role is available to candidates anywhere within the US. Successful candidates who live within 50 miles of a Microsoft hub will be required to work from the office a minimum of 3 days per week.  Hub locations - Redmond, WA, Atlanta, GA, San Antonio, TX, Phoenix, AZ, or Washington DC.

Responsibilities
  • Provide electrical safety expertise supporting the design and deployment of new hardware, facilities, systems, equipment, and machinery.
  • Own or co-own electrical safety program elements (standards, training expectations, inspection/assessment criteria) consistent with Microsoft electrical safety requirements.
  • Leads ambiguous, cross-region electrical safety problems to resolution; sets technical direction for program content and standards.
  • Influences design/operations stakeholders through data, risk framing, and practical engineering controls.
  • Review electrical design artifacts relevant to safety: one-lines, protection/coordination intent, equipment room access/clearance impacts, and maintainability constraints
  • Perform Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) process safety risk assessments for existing facilities, new facility designs, and emerging technologies.
  • Apply process safety and hazard analysis methodologies (e.g. HAZID, HAZOP, etc.) to identify hazards, evaluate risk, and recommend effective controls.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve global EHS programs to reduce process and operational safety risk.
  • Partner with datacenter engineering teams to integrate technical safety considerations into designs and enable safe operation of facilities and infrastructure.
  • Analyze EHS performance metrics and indicators to identify trends, prioritize risk‑reduction opportunities, and inform program improvements.
  • Conduct inspections, assessments, and design reviews to verify compliance with applicable regulations, standards, and Microsoft policies.
  • Perform workplace risk and exposure assessments across electrical, mechanical, and operational hazard categories.
  • Support incident investigations, including root cause analysis and identification, communication, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Embody our culture and values.
