About the role
Original posting provided by amazon
AWS keynotes reach millions of viewers and shape how the world understands cloud and AI. We're looking for a Sr. Keynote Creative Strategist to own the creative direction and visual craft of those keynotes. You'll turn complex technical narratives into original art, slides and visual systems that work for technical and non-technical audiences alike, at re:Invent, AWS Summits and other major technology events. This role is both strategic and hands-on: you define the look and feel of a keynote, make the work yourself, and direct the output of internal designers and external creative partners.
Key job responsibilities
• Set the creative direction for each keynote: develop visual concepts and creative territories from the narrative, script and audience, and align them with executives and content leads
• Create original art, illustrations and presentation slides for executive keynotes at the highest craft bar
• Build and maintain keynote visual systems (templates, style guides, motion and graphic standards) that keep the work consistent across re:Invent, 31 global Summits and third-party events
• Direct and mentor internal designers and external agencies and vendors: give clear creative feedback, review work in progress, and help choose partners for each project
• Make creative and brand trade-off decisions across executives, product teams, content creators and production partners, and argue for creative integrity when feedback conflicts
• Present creative direction and work in progress to senior leaders and VPs, explaining the strategic reasoning behind each visual decision
• Direct AI-augmented creative production: decide when generative AI tools (image, video, layout) speed up the work and when the job needs human-led craft, and set the quality bar for AI-assisted output
• Partner with keynote leads, demo builders and video teams so that animation, interactive demos and live elements all feel like one show
• Available to work across time zones with a globally distributed team, and travel to events as needed
A day in the life
You start your morning reviewing overnight slide revisions from an agency partner and sending back focused feedback on hierarchy and motion. Mid-morning, you join the keynote lead and the speaker's team to walk through two creative directions for an upcoming keynote and leave with a decision. After lunch, you're heads-down building the hero illustration for the opening section. Late in the day, you run a critique with two designers on the team, pushing a dense architecture slide until a non-technical viewer can read it in three seconds.
About the team
Our team sits within AWS and exists to ensure the most important stories resonate on the biggest stages, delivered by our most senior executives. We partner closely with product, engineering, design and executive communications teams to produce keynotes for events like re:Invent and other major technology conferences. We value collaboration, clear communication, and a shared commitment to getting the details right. If you want to work on programs that shape how millions of people experience AWS innovation, we would love to hear from you.
