As part of the Thermo Fisher Scientific team, you’ll discover meaningful work that makes a positive impact on a global scale. Join our colleagues in bringing our Mission to life every single day to enable our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer. We provide our global teams with the resources needed to achieve individual career goals while helping to take science a step beyond by developing solutions for some of the world’s toughest challenges, like protecting the environment, making sure our food is safe or helping find cures for cancer.
DESCRIPTION:
Lead commercial contract negotiations, strategic projects, and continuous improvement initiatives across Taiwan's Distribution & Logistics network. Own the negotiation and renewal of 3PL, customs broker, and freight forwarder contracts, driving favorable commercial terms and service structures. Partner cross-functionally to lead structural projects — network footprint evaluation, cost optimization, and process redesign — that improve D&L's operational efficiency and support long-term business planning. This is a project-based, non-people-management role focused on commercial and structural outcomes rather than daily operational execution.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Commercial Contract Negotiation & Vendor Strategy
- Lead negotiation and renewal of contracts with 3PLs, customs brokers, and freight forwarders, owning commercial terms, rate structures, and service category definitions.
- Build and maintain a supplementary contract framework that clearly defines service tiers, rate triggers, and escalation mechanisms to prevent future billing disputes.
- Conduct market benchmarking and competitive bid processes (RFQ) to inform negotiation strategy and ensure Taiwan's rates and terms remain competitive against regional peers.
- Partner with Legal/Procurement on contract review and risk assessment prior to execution.
2. Strategic & Structural Projects
- Own cross-functional strategic projects impacting D&L's operating model — including network footprint evaluation (warehouse consolidation/expansion, site relocation), make-vs-buy decisions (in-house vs. outsourced service models), and organizational restructuring initiatives.
- Provide analytical and structural support for annual operating plan submissions, including cost and investment analysis.
- Lead ad hoc business-critical initiatives as assigned, including supplier transition management.
3. Continuous Improvement & Process Optimization
- Own the D&L continuous improvement / PPI(Lean) agenda — identifying inefficiencies across the network, driving standardization, automation, and cost-reduction initiatives.
- Establish a structured framework for tracking CI initiative outcomes and cost impact.
- Benchmark against other regional markets (e.g., Japan, China, Singapore, Korea) to identify improvement opportunities applicable to Taiwan.
4. Cross-Functional Partnership
- Work closely with the Logistics Lead and Trade Operation Supervisor to ensure negotiated commercial terms align with day-to-day operational and compliance requirements.
- Partner with Finance, Procurement, and Legal on cost structure analysis and contract governance.
- Provide data and analytical support to function leadership for stakeholder reporting and business reviews.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field; advanced degree a plus.
- 3+ years of experience in supply chain, logistics, or procurement roles with direct experience in commercial contract negotiation with 3PLs, freight forwarders, or customs brokers.
- Demonstrated track record leading cross-functional or structural projects (network design, cost optimization, process redesign) to completion.
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills — cost structure analysis, rate benchmarking, ROI evaluation.
- Working knowledge of continuous improvement / lean methodologies (PPI, Six Sigma, or equivalent).
- Excellent negotiation, stakeholder management, and project management skills.
- Proficient in English and Mandarin Chinese (spoken and written).
Preferred
- Experience in pharmaceutical, medical device, or regulated industries.
- Familiarity with trade compliance and import/export cost structures (duty, landed cost) sufficient to collaborate effectively with the Trade Operation Supervisor.
- Experience with ERP/WMS systems and Microsoft Office Suite (advanced Excel/analytics).
