Job Description

Team Summary:

Visa’s Asia Pacific Corporate Strategy team based in Singapore plays a key role in shaping Visa’s long-term strategy in the region and solving for regional and country-specific opportunities and challenges, in partnership with executives and business leaders across Visa’s organization. Recent initiatives have addressed topics such as market strategy, product strategy, multi-year planning, and organic / inorganic growth opportunities across the region. The team is also responsible for developing thought leadership on emerging trends in payments industry.

What a Director, Corporate Strategy does at Visa:

The Director role in the Asia Pacific (AP) Corporate Strategy Team reports to the AP Regional Head of Strategy and supports development of regional and market-specific strategy efforts. As a strategist, the individual will work with and support key areas of the business – both across functions and geographies – in conducting analysis to support development of strategies in alignment with the regional and global priorities. This role will also support regional business planning needs, monitoring of competitive developments across the region/globally, and development of timely response to emerging trends and opportunities across AP. This position will be based out of Singapore.

In this role, you are expected to:

• Structure and solve business problems, collaborating and coordinating with a range of internal stakeholders to make recommendations on a wide range of business issues
• Build out unique, creative and impactful solutions by integrating insights across Visa's many expert functional resources and supporting collaborative solution development
• Develop rigorous, fact based, quantitative analysis to support recommendations. Ensure strategic and financial soundness and alignment for any recommendations
• Work closely with cross-functional and regional management teams on strategic projects, bringing timely and useful insight and analytical support
• Communicate recommendations to in a clear, concise and impactful way
• Provide continuous coaching and training to junior resources in the strategy team.

Why this is important to Visa:

The AP Corporate Strategy team is responsible for helping the senior leadership team in setting the strategic agenda for Visa in AP in close alignment with the global and regional leadership. As part of the strategy team, you will be instrumental in defining, planning and executing long-term strategic priorities that will set Visa (encompassing all our segments, channels and geographies) on a path to accelerate growth across Asia Pacific region.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office two days a week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% of the time based on business needs.

Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

Qualifications

What you will need for this role:

We are looking for an individual with a structured mindset, curiosity about the payments industry, is results-driven, and client focused.

As an ideal candidate, you should have:

• Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Economics, Business or similar fields
• MBA or relevant graduate degree from top-tier institution or similar academic / professional experience preferred
• 10 - 12 years of experience in management consulting and / or internal strategy role in a global company
• Ability to independently lead or support projects with multiple workstreams, with proven leadership success over a wide variety of functional business problems
• Ability to structure and manage complex cross-functional projects with multiple stakeholders at both senior and junior levels
• Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor, and attention to detail
• Experience working with economic theories, strategic and prioritization frameworks, scenarios analysis, and competitive assessment
• Self-starter, collaborative, and flexible, with ability to function independently in an ambiguous and evolving environment
• Pro-active and effective communicator, experienced in presenting information to all levels and with ability to facilitate group discussions and debate
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and proven experience of project management
• Strong interpersonal and execution skills
• Strong analytical and strategic acumen
• Excellent presentation and verbal and written communication skills
• Able to manage work in different time zones effectively
• Ability to be recognized as thought leader
• Professional, confident and outgoing with the ability to maintain good communication with wide internal and external audiences.
  

What will also help:

• Financial Services / FinTech / Payment industry experience would be a distinct advantage
• International experience a plus.
