Job Description

The Senior Business Development Manager, Pharma & Biotech will create the overall account and market strategy, and interface with the groups and divisions to create focused account partnership/growth strategies. He/she will develop relationships at the senior level, within accounts to plan and execute an account strategy designed to maximize capture of share of spend.


This role will position Thermo Fisher Scientific entire portfolio of products & services, while bring business to direct sales and distributors, despite the GTM on each group/division.


Key Responsibilities:


1. Promote Cross-Divisional Approach to Pharma & Biotech market:

  • Develop and implement strategies to integrate and promote Thermo Fisher Scientific's diverse offerings across various divisions to the industrial market.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure cohesive and unified market approaches.

2. Foster End-to-End Thermo Fisher Scientific Solutions:

  • Advocate for and facilitate the adoption of Thermo Fisher Scientific's comprehensive solutions within client organizations.
  • Ensure clients understand the value and benefits of integrated solutions spanning the entire product lifecycle.

3. Implement New Business Strategies:

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities within the pharmaceutical and biopharma sectors.
  • Create and execute strategic plans to drive growth and achieve sales targets.

4. Track New Projects and Opportunities:

  • Monitor and manage a pipeline of projects and opportunities, ensuring timely follow-up and engagement.
  • Utilize CRM tools to track progress and maintain accurate records of client interactions and project statuses.

5. Evaluate Industry and Market Trends:

  • Conduct market research and analyze industry trends to identify emerging opportunities and threats.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to senior management based on market evaluations.

6. Enhance Pharma & Biotech Network:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in the biotech market.
  • Attend market conferences, networking events, and other relevant gatherings to expand Thermo Fisher Scientific's presence and influence.

Minimum Qualifications (must have):


  • Bachelor’s degree in Lifesciences.
  • Minimum 5 years of sales experience with a strong track record for sales achievement.
  • A strong team player with proven ability to coordinate activities and influence actions across a team of resources not directly reporting.
  • Proven ability to coordinate activities and influence actions of our commercial and channel representatives to drive strategic initiatives.
  • Have a greater understanding of the competitive landscape in the customer base
  • Possess strong analytical capabilities in order to assess and understand profitability of customer relationships so as to effectively partner and negotiate
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Understanding of international business with strong financial/business acumen.
  • Strong project management skills. Analysis, planning, organization, execution and follow-up.
  • Energetic, motivated and resourceful.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness and ability to travel (up to 50%)

Preferred Qualifications (nice to have):


  • Experience of working in a global setting and dealing with different cultures
  • MBA or professional business education
  • Matrix management and / or cross functional experience
