Role Overview
The Signals Strategy Lead - Cloud & AI Platforms (CAIP) serves as the strategic lead for Cloud & AI Platforms sales recommendation and marketing signal strategy.
• Responsible for translating business priorities into recommendation frameworks, signal strategies, customer targeting approaches, and engagement motions that improve seller effectiveness, customer acquisition, and pipeline outcomes.
• Operates at the intersection of MCAPS, Product Marketing, Integrated Marketing, Global Media, Modeling & Forecasting, Global Performance and Technology teams.
• Drives alignment on how customer opportunities are identified, prioritized, targeted, activated, and measured across the commercial marketing ecosystem.
• Acts as the central integrator across stakeholders, bringing together business priorities, customer insights, global performance trends, signal requirements, and technology capabilities into a unified recommendation and signal strategy that advances Microsoft's Cloud & AI Platforms growth objectives.
• Requires executive presence, exceptional stakeholder leadership, strategic problem solving, and the ability to influence decisions across highly matrixed organizations.
Responsibilities
Sales Recommendation & Marketing Signal Strategy
• Drive the strategic direction for Cloud & AI Platforms marketing signals and sales recommendations, ensuring alignment with commercial business priorities, customer acquisition goals, and pipeline outcomes.
• Develop and evolve recommendation frameworks that connect customer behaviors, media opportunities, targeting & engagement patterns, and marketing investments to actionable seller motions.
• Identify opportunities to improve recommendation quality, acquisition strategies, customer engagement, and downstream business impact across the CAIP ecosystem.
• Translate evolving business priorities into scalable signal strategies that support Microsoft's commercial growth objectives.
Cross-Functional Strategy Integration & Stakeholder Leadership
• Serve as the primary strategy partner across MCAPS, Integrated Marketing, Global Media, Modeling & Forecasting, Global Performance and Technology organizations.
• Drive alignment across stakeholders on signal requirements, recommendation priorities, customer targeting methodologies, investment strategies, and success measures.
• Synthesize diverse stakeholder priorities, business objectives, performance trends, and customer insights into a cohesive signal and recommendation strategic roadmap.
• Facilitate executive-level discussions and decision-making processes to ensure alignment across organizational priorities while balancing competing business needs.
• Establish trusted partnerships that accelerate decision making, improve execution readiness, and strengthen integration across teams.
Signal Quality, Effectiveness & Business Impact
• Define strategic tests & programs to improve signal quality, recommendation accuracy, customer relevance, and seller actionability.
• Partner with Analytics, Media Intelligence, Modeling & Forecasting, Global Performance and Technology teams to evaluate current trends and identify long-term opportunities to improve effectiveness.
• Leverage customer, marketing, and sales insights to continuously refine signal strategies and improve business outcomes.
Customer Targeting & Opportunity Identification Strategy
• Align recommendations and marketing signals with media acquisition priorities, account strategy, and commercial growth objectives; lead sales-driven targeting to improve recommendation quality.
• Shape audience selection, customer prioritization, and engagement frameworks with Sales and Integrated Marketing teams to increase recommendation precision and seller effectiveness.
• Alongside sales leadership, define how Microsoft identifies, prioritizes, and activates high-value Cloud & AI Platforms opportunities.
Innovation, Experimentation & Signal Advancement
• Lead strategic innovation initiatives focused on improving recommendation quality, media signal effectiveness, customer engagement, and sales opportunity creation.
• Design, prioritize, and evaluate pilots, testing frameworks, and experimentation programs that advance Microsoft's recommendation and marketing signal capabilities.
• Partner with Integrated Marketing, Creative, Media, Modeling & Forecasting, and Technology teams to identify emerging opportunities, new data sources, predictive approaches, and innovative methodologies that improve signal performance.
• Develop business cases and strategic recommendations that inform future investments in signal capabilities, recommendation programs, and customer intelligence solutions.
• Scale successful innovations into repeatable frameworks that deliver measurable business impact.
Business Planning & Executive Leadership
• Develop executive-ready recommendations that connect investments to customer acquisition, sales opportunity creation, seller effectiveness, pipeline growth, and business outcomes.
• Represent centralized CAIP signal planning & strategy across planning discussions, business forums, and strategic decision-making processes.
• Provide thought leadership on the evolution of Microsoft's recommendation ecosystem and signal strategy across Cloud & AI Platforms.
• Influence cross-organizational priorities through data-driven insights, business acumen, and strategic storytelling.
Qualifications
Required/minimum qualifications
• Master's Degree in in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 3+ years experience in business OR Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 5+ years experience in business OR equivalent experience.
Additional or preferred qualifications
• Master's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 6+ years experience in business OR Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 8+ years experience in business OR equivalent experience.
• Experience leading strategic planning, business transformation, commercial marketing, demand generation, or sales activation initiatives within enterprise technology, cloud, or AI environments.
• Deep understanding of sales recommendations, performance marketing, customer acquisition, account prioritization, and seller engagement strategies.
• Experience driving alignment across Product Marketing, Sales, Marketing, Analytics, Technology, and Operations organizations.
• Strong analytical and strategic problem-solving capabilities with the ability to translate business priorities into scalable frameworks and measurable outcomes.
• Proven success influencing senior stakeholders and leading through highly matrixed environments.
• Exceptional communication, executive storytelling, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
Product Marketing IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $106,400 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $137,600 - $222,600 per year.
