The CSCP organization is responsible for traditional supply chain functions such as plan, source, make, deliver, but also manages supportability (spares), sustainability, and decommissioning of datacenter assets worldwide. We deliver the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's over 200 online businesses including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, OneDrive and the Microsoft Azure platform for external customers. Our infrastructure is supported by more than 300 datacenters around the world that enable services for more than 1 billion customers in over 90 countries.

Microsoft Cloud Planning (MCP) is the central planning function within CSCP focused on forecasting, demand planning, and supply planning for all Microsoft Cloud services and associated hardware, directly impacting the success of Microsoft's cloud business.

• Act as the technical expert for datacenter hardware components, such as memory, processors, storage, and related technologies, ensuring thorough technical analysis for Component Long-Range Planning (LRP).
• Create data-driven forecasts using statistical analysis, scenario modeling, historical data, and technology adoption patterns.
• Partner with engineering, sourcing, suppliers, and supply planning teams to understand component roadmaps, transitions, qualifications, and lifecycle management strategies.
• Evaluate technological trends, including performance, density, and power-efficiency improvements, to drive assessments related to demand, supply, risks, and opportunities.
• Identify and quantify key planning assumptions and sensitivities that could substantially impact component requirements across various scenarios.
• Work collaboratively with Long-Range Planning owners and stakeholders to integrate insights into strategic decision-making processes.
• Build scalable frameworks to document and maintain technology roadmap assumptions, supporting the expansion of LRP coverage.
• Present complex technical concepts in a clear manner, influencing stakeholders and aligning on long-term strategies.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree and 4+ years of experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience.
• 6+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
• 1+ year(s) of experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).
• Expertise in datacenter hardware components such as memory (DIMMs), SSDs, CPUs, and related technologies.
• Strong track record in generating demand forecasts and translating them into actionable business insights through advanced modeling and governance.
• Experience in scenario-based and range-based forecasting to support strategic decisions.
• Exceptional communication skills, with an ability to simplify technical concepts for diverse audiences and highlight critical insights.

Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $160,200 - $261,000 per year.
