Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Gilead Sciences, Inc. is a leading biopharmaceutical company dedicated to advancing global health through scientific innovation. For over three decades, Gilead has been at the forefront of developing transformative therapies for life-threatening diseases, including HIV, viral hepatitis, and cancer. Headquartered in Foster City, California, Gilead operates in more than 35 countries worldwide.

As part of our commitment to improving lives, we foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment where every individual is valued and empowered to contribute meaningfully. At Gilead, you will join a mission-driven team focused on discovering, developing, and delivering innovative therapeutics that make a real difference.

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Associate Director, Digital Marketing, Data & AI Lead (Ex-US) to join our Commercial IT organization. This strategic role is responsible for defining and delivering the technology strategy, roadmap and execution of Digital Marketing, Content, Web, Analytics and AI capabilities across Gilead's Ex-US Commercial organisation. The successful candidate will act as a trusted technology partner to the business, driving digital and omnichannel engagement, data-driven decision making, and AI-enabled business transformation across global markets.

Operating across a diverse affiliate landscape outside of the US — spanning EU5, Canada, Australia, the ACE and ICR clusters, and Japan — the role ensures capabilities are both standardised at the core and adaptable to individual market nuances. It owns the end-to-end lifecycle of Digital Marketing capabilities, including Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Content Management and Web platforms, ensuring scalable, compliant and business-focused solutions that enhance customer engagement and operational effectiveness.

This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of digital, data and AI capabilities at Gilead, contributing to our mission of creating a healthier world for all.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as a strategic technology advisor to cross-functional business partners—including Commercial, and Medical Affairs,—across ex-US affiliates, translating complex business priorities into scalable, high-impact digital, data and AI solutions that drive measurable value.

  • Own and publish a multi-year roadmap for the Digital Marketing product portfolio, partnering with business product owners to identify omnichannel integration and innovation opportunities.

  • Define and maintain the strategic roadmap for Digital Marketing, Content, Web, Analytics and AI capabilities, collaborating with business stakeholders and product owners.

  • Streamline the omnichannel ecosystem across CRM, Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC) and web platforms, strengthening personalisation and consent management across affiliates.

  • Lead the evolution of Marketing Automation, AI-driven and real-time HCP engagement moving beyond static, batch-driven campaigns.

  • Lead the continuous evolution of Veeva Vault PromoMats, digital content management, and web capabilities (including DAM and Sitecore).

  • Scale Veeva Falcon AI capability for pre-MLR AI-assisted reviews across ex-US affiliates.

  • Implement AI-assisted content creation (Content Studio) and agentic AI orchestration solutions across ex-US affiliates.

  • Oversee web platform initiatives such as personalisation and site migrations to standardised design infrastructure, ensuring content and web solutions remain compliant, scalable, and aligned to the target-state ecosystem architecture.

  • Establish reports and dashboards on omnichannel engagement and business-critical KPIs, leveraging AWS, Databricks and enterprise data platforms to enable advanced insights that support business performance measurement and decision making.

  • Lead the identification, development and scaling of AI capabilities across the Digital Marketing, Content and Analytics portfolio.

  • Manage vendor and platform strategy across the AI landscape (e.g., Veeva, Salesforce AI roadmap vs. interim best-of-breed solutions), balancing near-term capability gaps against long-term strategic platform direction.

  • Manage cross-functional teams and vendor partnerships to deliver new platforms and features with agility, velocity, and quality, while optimising cost and operational efficiency.

  • Collaborate with sourcing and procurement teams on RFPs, vendor evaluations, contract readiness, and capability assessments, ensuring alignment with Gilead’s standards for quality, security, and compliance.

  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement and change management, ensuring successful adoption of new technologies through training, communication, business change management and post-deployment optimisation.

  • Collaborate extensively with Commercial, Medical, Market Access, Legal, Compliance, and Enterprise IT teams to deliver innovative digital, data and AI solutions that drive measurable business value across ex-US markets.

  • Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous learning.
