Job Title: VP, Asset Based Finance (ABF) Data Operations

Job Summary:

Blackstone Credit & Insurance (BXCI) is seeking a seasoned Data Governance/Data Operations subject-matter expert with deep expertise in insurance-related data to own the end-to-end lifecycle of data supporting our insurance clients, who invest across the credit markets in bank loans, CLOs, corporate bonds, CMBS, RMBS, ABS, ABF, alternatives, and private credit.

Based in Bangalore, you will act as SME for the insurance platform and the day-to-day liaison for our New York and London teams. In this role, you will establish and enforce governance standards, steward data quality and transparency between internal platforms and client data needs, and run mission-critical data operations (ingestion, normalization, controls, and reporting). You will partner closely with investment, risk, technology, accounting, and compliance teams to ensure data is accurate, timely, and decision-ready—supporting portfolio construction, surveillance, valuations, and statutory and regulatory reporting in a high-performance, regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities:

ABF Data Operations

  • Operationalize key performance indicators for asset based finance deals into our central data warehouse, spanning consumer and residential, equipment and auto, commercial real estate, fund finance, and hard-asset or esoteric collateral types.
  • Own the intake and normalization of originator and servicer data tapes and trustee reports—loan-level attributes, collateral stratifications, borrowing base and eligibility criteria, advance rates, and remittance detail—into standard internal models.
  • Coordinate pricing and analytics feeds (Bloomberg/ICE/Markit, rating agency data, Intex) and align them with internal valuation and risk models.
  • Run daily and weekly controls around asset based finance deals, including funding and advance activity, unfunded commitments, and collateral eligibility exceptions.
  • Orchestrate data pipelines and APIs between warehouse (Snowflake), analytics (Intex/quant libraries), accounting (Axiom/Clearwater), and reporting (Sigma/BI).

Controls, Compliance, and Reporting

  • Implement control frameworks for ABF data (pre-/post-ingestion checks, anomaly detection, duplicate prevention, referential integrity).
  • Support insurer/statutory reporting (NAIC designations, SSAP 26R/43R data elements) and audit-readiness.
  • Monitor covenant, borrowing base, and performance triggers; produce surveillance dashboards (delinquencies, defaults, losses, recoveries, CPR/CDR, WAL, credit enhancement and OC levels).
  • Reconcile facility balances, cash and interest activity, and collateral positions against servicers, trustees, agents, and fund administrators; drive breaks to resolution with clear ownership.
  • Deliver executive-ready KPIs on data quality, operational SLAs, and portfolio impacts; lead remediation programs for systemic data issues.

Stakeholder Partnership

  • Serve as the Bangalore-based point of contact for the New York and London teams; provide daily overlapping-hours coverage, a documented handoff at the open and close of each region's day, and timely escalation of unresolved items.
  • Partner with PMs, research, and risk to deliver decision-ready ABF datasets for portfolio construction, hedging, and scenario analysis.
  • Work with technology to implement scalable ETL, lineage, catalog, and data-access controls; coordinate with compliance/legal on data usage (including PII when applicable).
  • Interface with external trustees, servicers, originators, rating agencies, and data vendors; manage vendor SLAs and change notifications (file formats, delivery schedules).

Leadership and Change Management

  • Build and mentor a high-performing ABF data ops/governance team in Bangalore; establish coverage rotations and incident response playbooks.
  • Lead cross-functional projects (new deal and facility onboarding, platform migrations, new originator/servicer and vendor integrations) and manage timelines, testing, cutover, and post-implementation reviews.
  • Promote data literacy across investment and operations teams; document standards and SOPs.

Qualifications:

Blackstone seeks to hire individuals who are highly motivated, intelligent and have demonstrated excellence in prior endeavors. In addition to strong analytical and quantitative skills, the successful candidate should have:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM, Finance, Business, Data Management, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years in data governance/data operations, with 7–10+ years directly in asset based finance or securitized products across multiple sectors (Auto, Consumer/Marketplace, Equipment, RMBS/CMBS, CLO, fund finance, esoterics).
  • Demonstrated ownership of ABF/ABS data pipelines, trustee and servicer integrations, borrowing base and waterfall inputs, and reconciliation processes at scale.
  • Experience operating within a global delivery model as a subject-matter expert supporting investment and operations stakeholders in the US and/or UK.

Technical Expertise

  • SQL skills necessary. Python nice to have.
  • Hands-on experience with Snowflake (data warehousing), Sigma or similar BI, and Alation (catalog/lineage); familiarity with workflow/orchestration tools.
  • Comfort working with high-volume, inconsistent third-party file feeds—loan tapes, servicer and trustee reports—and building repeatable ingestion, mapping, and validation routines.
  • Expert user of ABF/ABS analytics and data sources: Intex, Bloomberg, ICE/Markit, rating agency data (S&P, Moody’s, Fitch, KBRA, DBRS); experience integrating identifiers and factors.
  • Knowledge of accounting/reporting systems and GAAP/STAT considerations for ABF portfolios nice to have.

Domain Knowledge

  • Deep understanding of ABF and securitization structures and mechanics: collateral stratification, borrowing base and eligibility tests, advance rates, waterfall priorities, enhancement and triggers (OC/IC), factor updates, servicing metrics, and trustee reporting.
  • Working knowledge of privately negotiated, collateral-backed transactions (warehouse lines, forward flow, SPV and facility structures) and the bespoke reporting obligations they carry.
  • Familiarity with valuation and risk concepts (pricing sources, model validation, sensitivity and scenario analysis).
  • Regulatory awareness relevant to buy-side ABF/ABS investors (e.g., Reg AB II data expectations, surveillance standards); audit and control requirements in a regulated environment.
