The insurance industry is undergoing a generational technology shift, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) is at the center of it. Enterprise carriers and reinsurers are moving core platforms off legacy infrastructure, deploying generative AI for underwriting and claims automation, and rethinking how they serve policyholders. As a Senior Solutions Architect on the AWS US Financial Services Insurance team, you will be the dedicated technical advisor to a portfolio of enterprise insurance customers who are already investing in cloud migration and AI-powered transformation. You will own the end-to-end architecture for complex workloads, build proof-of-concept applications alongside customer engineers, and present modernization strategies directly to CTOs and CIOs.

This is a role where hands-on-keyboard technical depth meets executive-level communication. You will design solutions that span compute, networking, storage, security, and machine learning, while translating business priorities into technology roadmaps that deliver measurable outcomes. Your customers have active engagements, engaged leadership teams, and real workloads in flight — giving you the opportunity to make an impact from day one.

Key job responsibilities
Design and own end-to-end cloud architectures for enterprise insurance customers, making trade-offs across reliability, security, performance, and cost while ensuring solutions are extensible and reusable across the broader practice.
Build and deepen trusted advisor relationships with customer senior leaders, understanding their business context and influencing their longer-term technology strategy for migration, modernization, and AI adoption.
Lead hands-on technical engagements including architecture reviews, proof-of-concept builds, and generative AI workshops, then distill delivered solutions into reference designs and reusable artifacts for fellow Solutions Architects.
Collaborate with Account Executives, Technical Account Managers, specialist Solutions Architects, and professional services partners to progress customer workloads from design through production launch.
Gather and translate customer feedback into clear technical requirements for AWS product and engineering teams, proactively identifying gaps in services and sponsoring improvements that address insurance-industry needs.

A day in the life
You might open the morning reviewing a carrier's migration architecture before joining your paired Account Executive for a weekly strategy sync. By mid-morning you are whiteboarding a claims-processing pipeline with a customer's engineering team, working through data-flow patterns and security considerations. After lunch you lead a generative AI workshop, walking underwriters through a prototype built on AWS AI services. Later you join a cross-account pattern-sharing session with fellow insurance-focused Solutions Architects, contributing a reusable asset you developed for a recent proof of concept. You close the day documenting recommendations and preparing a modernization roadmap presentation for a reinsurer's CTO.

About the team
The AWS US Financial Services Insurance Solutions Architecture team is one of the few organizations at AWS dedicated exclusively to the insurance industry. We cover every major sub-segment — Property and Casualty, Life and Health, Reinsurance, InsurTech, and more — giving each Solutions Architect genuine industry fluency alongside deep technical expertise. Our team of field Solutions Architects partners closely with Account Executives, Technical Account Managers, specialist architects, and professional services teams to serve over 300 insurance accounts.

We don't just advise — we build. Our Solutions Architects regularly develop proof-of-concept applications, lead AI hackathons, and create reusable assets that become patterns for the broader AWS insurance practice. If you are energized by combining technical depth with executive presence and want to help shape how the insurance industry adopts cloud and AI, this is the team for you.
