The Senior Manager, Alpha-1 Patient Marketing Lead is responsible for shaping and executing Takeda's patient marketing strategy across the Alpha-1 portfolio during a critical period for the Takeda Alpha-1 Franchise. This role reports to the Head of Alpha-1 Brand Strategy/Marketing.

This role will lead the development of patient marketing strategy, messaging, creative direction, and partner on omnichannel activation plans designed to improve identification of the Takeda Alpha-1 patient, the onboarding experience, and overall patient persistence. The individual will serve as the voice of the Alpha-1 Lung patient across the organization and partner closely with Digital/Omnichannel, HCP Marketing, Professional Engagement, Takeda Patient Support, Medical, Insights & Analytics, Advocacy, and other cross-functional stakeholders to deliver a cohesive and measurable patient experience.

How you will contribute:

The successful candidate will establish patient-focused objectives and KPIs, guide investment prioritization, and drive execution across the patient ecosystem to ensure patients receive the right information, support, and resources throughout their journey.

Patient Strategy & Marketing Leadership

  • Lead the development and execution of the Alpha-1 patient marketing strategy, ensuring alignment with franchise objectives and evolving patient needs.

  • Serve as the voice of the patient across cross-functional planning and decision-making, helping advance patient care and connect appropriate patients to Takeda's Alpha-1 portfolio.

  • Own the patient marketing ecosystem, partnering with the Digital/Omnichannel Lead to develop and optimize integrated omnichannel engagement and measurement strategies.

  • Drive patient tactical planning, investment prioritization, messaging, and creative development across the patient journey, from disease education and therapy consideration through onboarding, early treatment experience, and long-term persistence.

  • Lead development and execution of all patient-directed promotional and non-personal marketing initiatives.

  • Partner with Advocacy and Professional Engagement lead on patient education events and engagement opportunities to strengthen community connections and patient support (and ensuring appropriate partner communication).

  • Collaborate with HCP Marketing and Commercial Learning & Development teams to ensure patient-facing resources are effectively deployed through healthcare providers and field teams.

  • Lead and contribute to competitive and strategic planning initiatives to identify opportunities, risks, and market dynamics impacting the patient experience.

  • Establish and monitor key patient, campaign, and channel performance metrics, leveraging insights to optimize engagement, marketing effectiveness, and investment decisions.

Cross-Functional Leadership & Operational Excellence

  • Serve as a strategic connector across the Alpha-1 Franchise and broader business unit, ensuring alignment and collaboration on initiatives that impact the Alpha-1 Lung patient experience.

  • Lead patient marketing operational planning and budget management, continuously evaluating program performance to maximize impact.

  • Manage agency and vendor partners to ensure high-quality execution, timely delivery, budget adherence, and integration across the broader Takeda customer engagement ecosystem.

  • Champion strong partnerships with Medical, Legal, Regulatory, Ethics & Compliance, and other review stakeholders to ensure compliant, efficient, and patient-centered execution of all marketing activities.

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement

EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.

  • Must have a minimum of 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in sales, marketing, healthcare systems, patient advocacy, or related functions within the healthcare and/or biopharmaceutical industry.

  • Must have strong leadership skills with an ability to set direction, align direction clearly to Franchise/Brand strategy, generate commitment, identify, and resolve issues, and evaluate risk. Equally important is the ability to take accountability for individual work while also demonstrating ability to collaborate and work effectively with cross-functional teams at varying levels with a proven ability to influence without authority.

  • Strong creative and strategic thinking skills with the ability to translate insights into actionable strategy and flawless execution.

  • Demonstrated enterprise thinking to find innovative ways to serve patients and to help elevate/align capabilities of the organization for the future.

  • Ability to adapt and put patient and team needs first during times of change

  • Experience in marketing strategy and tactic design with an ability to communicate ideas to internal partners and external agencies.

  • Excellent analytical skills and comfortability with leveraging directional data to make decisions required.

  • Must have strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities, with strong prioritization and time-management skills.

  • Must have financial management and budgeting capabilities.

  • Manual dexterity required to operate office equipment (i.e., computers, phones, etc.)

  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.

  • Carrying, handling, and reaching for objects

  • Requires approximately 20% travel.

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$137,000.00 - $215,270.00


The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
