DESCRIPTION:
Join our R&D team at Thermo Fisher Scientific and help advance discoveries that make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. As a Mechanical Engineer I, you'll work on product development projects, from concept through manufacture, collaborating with teams to create solutions that address scientific challenges. You'll develop and optimize mechanical designs using industry-leading tools and practices, while ensuring compliance with quality standards and manufacturing requirements. This role offers opportunities for professional growth and meaningful impact as you contribute to the development of sophisticated laboratory equipment and scientific instruments that enable our customers' success.
Minimum Requirements:
Education
- B.S. minimum in Mechanical Engineering or related field with minimum 5 years product design experience. Plastic component design experience preferred.
Experience
- Extensive experience with mechanical drafting standards and solid modeling is required. Solidworks, ProE or Unigraphics is preferred.
- Strong proficiency with tolerance analysis of mechanical assemblies. Structural analysis experience is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to apply problem solving and data analysis methods.
- Experience with plastic materials, plastic processing and mold design is a plus.
- Excellent PC skills with proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), various CAD programs.
- Previous experience with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), ISO standards and Lean Manufacturing concepts desired.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally (up to 5% of the time).
