Assistant Vice President (AVP) – Infrastructure Engineering & Virtualization Services

Who we are looking for

We are looking for an accomplished infrastructure engineering leader to manage the engineering, deployment, support, and optimization of enterprise platforms spanning Windows Server, VMware, Nutanix, and physical server environments. The ideal candidate combines strong people leadership with deep technical and operational expertise and can drive infrastructure modernization, virtualization, automation, reliability, security, and continuous improvement across data center and cloud environments.

Why this role is important to us

The team is responsible for the complete infrastructure lifecycle—from server build, rack-and-stack operations, platform engineering, and virtualization to migrations, capacity management, ongoing support, and service improvement. This role is critical to delivering reliable, secure, scalable, and compliant infrastructure services that support business growth, operational resilience, and technology transformation.

What you will be responsible for

As an Assistant Vice President – Infrastructure Engineering & Virtualization Services, you will:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of infrastructure engineers while managing workload, priorities, performance, succession planning, and career development.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, engineering discipline, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning.
  • Oversee engineering, administration, and support of enterprise Windows Server, VMware, Nutanix, and physical server environments, ensuring availability, performance, security, compliance, and capacity.
  • Lead incident, problem, change, and service-improvement activities, acting as a senior escalation point for complex infrastructure issues.
  • Manage end-to-end server deployment and lifecycle activities, including rack and stack, hardware installation, operating system builds, provisioning, decommissioning, VMware ESXi installation, and Nutanix cluster deployment.
  • Ensure adherence to data center standards, hardware lifecycle controls, asset tracking, capacity planning, and technology refresh requirements.
  • Lead infrastructure modernization, virtualization, migration, upgrade, and cloud-transformation initiatives across VMware, Nutanix, data center, Azure, and AWS environments.
  • Drive standardization, infrastructure-as-code, automation, and self-service capabilities using PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform, and related engineering tools.
  • Develop and maintain operational procedures, engineering standards, runbooks, dashboards, metrics, and leadership reporting.
  • Collaborate with business, architecture, security, operations, vendors, and other stakeholders to coordinate upgrades, refresh programs, migrations, risk remediation, and service delivery priorities.

What we value

These leadership capabilities and technical skills will help you succeed in this role:

  • Demonstrated people leadership, strategic thinking, technical leadership, project delivery, problem solving, and continuous-improvement capabilities.
  • Deep understanding of enterprise server hardware, virtualization architecture, operating systems, storage, networking, high availability, capacity management, and data center operations.
  • Strong experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, NSX, HCX, Nutanix Prism Central and AHV, Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Practical knowledge of PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform, infrastructure automation, infrastructure-as-code, operational dashboards, and reporting.
  • Excellent communication, executive reporting, vendor management, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence outcomes.
  • Strong risk, security, compliance, change-management, and operational-governance mindset in a large enterprise environment.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 12+ years of infrastructure engineering and operations experience, including at least 3 years in a people-leadership role.
  • Proven experience managing enterprise Windows Server, VMware, Nutanix, physical server, and data center environments.
  • Demonstrated success leading infrastructure projects, platform migrations, modernization programs, and cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Experience with Azure and/or AWS is preferred.
  • ITIL, VMware, Nutanix, Microsoft, or cloud certifications are preferred.

Additional requirements

Ability to provide leadership coverage for critical incidents, planned infrastructure changes, migrations, and release activities outside standard business hours when required.

Work Requirement

  • Work schedule and location will align with business and leadership requirements; flexibility may be required to support global stakeholders and critical infrastructure activities.
