 In this in person role, you will report to  Waymo Operations.

You will:

  • Lead as a Technical Expert: Leverage in-depth knowledge and troubleshooting expertise to address complex issues outside of documented standard operating procedures. Engage with Waymo Engineering teams and OEM partners to resolve concerns.

  • Provide Partner Support: Minimize vehicle downtime by managing escalations from partner technicians facing novel or complex issues. Guide these diagnostics remotely and in-person.
  • Administer & Develop Training: Conduct on-the-job training (including train-the-trainer) to fleet service teams as a certified instructor. Assist in the continuous development of training content.

  • Maintain Quality Standards: Ensure market adherence to service and quality assurance standards that drive safety and consistency. Conduct regular audits and assessments to verify compliance.
  • Document Technical Knowledge: Develop and maintain technical documentation, troubleshooting guides, operating procedures, and best practices to support fleet service teams

  • Proactively Identify Risks and Opportunity: Collaborate with engineering teams to identify and address potential issues before they impact fleet uptime. Perform analysis that identifies high value diagnostic development opportunities

You have:

  • 5+ years experience in an automotive technician or automotive engineering role

  • Mastery of automotive diagnostic strategies and tools covering mechanical, electrical, and networking (e.g. CAN)
  • Demonstrated experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring timely delivery and quality outcomes 

  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, external partners, and executives
  • Analytical skills to identify developmental opportunities and communicate them effectively

  • Experience servicing and diagnosing electric or hybrid vehicles (high voltage qualification preferred)

  • Experience building or servicing autonomous vehicles or technology

Travel Requirements:

  • Up to 20%
  • Some travel to the US for training & ongoing supporting other markets in the UK and likely other markets in the EU
