As a Data Science Manager, you will lead a team that partners closely with Windows and Copilot product teams, translating complex data into clear product strategy and decisions throughout the lifecycle. You will guide rigorous analysis, experimentation, and predictive modeling to uncover customer needs, evaluate AI experiences, and identify opportunities to grow customer and business metrics. Responsibilities
  • Lead the team in designing success metrics and building reliable, multi-functional datasets from raw data; coach team members on exploration tools and analysis best practices. 
  • Guide predictive and prescriptive modeling, statistical analysis, and experimentation to deliver actionable solutions and deploy evaluation results. 
  • Provide strategic and thought leadership by identifying usage patterns and product gaps, then translating them into growth hypotheses and experiments. 
  • Tell compelling stories with data to stakeholders, feature teams, and leadership, clearly communicating insights, recommendations, and business impact. 


Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, or related field AND 3+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
    • OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, or related field AND 5+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, or related field AND 7+ years data science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years people-management experience.

Other Requirements

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
    • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience conducting exploratory data analysis, statistical inference, predictive modeling, including regression and classification and forecasting.
  • Experience designing experiments and analyzing results to evaluate hypotheses and inform decisions.
  • Demonstrated leadership in complex technical environments through critical thinking, technical expertise, clear direction, and consistent delivery of results.
  • Demonstrated experience communicating complex data and analytical findings to senior leaders through clear, concise, and actionable recommendations.

Data Science M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $142,800 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
