About the position

We are looking for an experienced Data Centre Facilities Engineer to join a highly technical group responsible for operating and maintaining the rapidly scaling infrastructure within our global data centres and colocation sites.

In this role, you will be responsible for liaising between internal teams and external data centres and colocation service providers to ensure 100% uptime across our critical facilities portfolio. You will also be involved with technical project management and the build out/fit out of our data centres and colocation sites. Having knowledge of the interdependencies of data centre functions and technologies is preferred.

We are looking for someone with a proven ability to deliver no matter the task, with a solid technical understanding of MEP components and the ability to make well-reasoned engineering decisions as they relate to operational risk. The right candidate will work well autonomously, manage their time exceptionally well and be able to make judgement calls with strong data and reasoning to back them up.

Our team is collaborative in nature, spanning many internal departments and external vendors, contractors, consultants and operations teams. Your specific work will cover all aspects of our complex distributed data centre and colocation environments.

About you

  • Have 5+ years of experience in one or more areas of project management, design, commissioning, construction, maintenance or operations of mission-critical data centres, trading floors or similar 24/7 facilities
  • Experienced with managing projects and operations supporting mission-critical facilities; can manage data centre providers and meet problems with creative solutions
  • A strong communicator; able to liaise with internal and external stakeholders as well as describe detailed problems with brevity and accuracy
  • Familiar with MEP components such as Switchgear, UPS, Generator, STS, PDU, RPP, Chillers, CRAH units, VESDA, pre-action and BMS; have an understanding of various levels of redundancy
  • Knowledgeable in reactive maintenance, including the review and supervision of SOPs, EOPs and MOPs
  • Possess a high-level understanding of the IT requirements within a data centre and can liaise with IT groups to gather and assess their build requirements
  • A creative, collaborative and enthusiastic team player who is eager to learn and take initiative
  • Organised; can balance assigned work required for our constantly evolving environments
  • Flexible to work nights and weekends as needed to support systems maintenance, operations and response efforts to critical system emergencies
  • Willing to travel 4-6 weeks per year
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in Cantonese and/or Mandarin is a plus
  • Knowledge of direct liquid cooling (DLC) systems is a plus
