Amazon Web Services is hiring a Product Design Engineer (focused on tooling and analytics) for the Product Engineering team. The Product & Services team is a part of a global engineering team, responsible for the design and continuous innovation of products used within our rapidly expanding data center foot print. This position can be based out of Seattle WA, Herndon VA, Austin TX, Columbus OH or Atlanta GA.

We are looking for a Product Design Engineer with hands on experience in change management, data analytics, and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) applications where critical product design information is stored and maintained. Experience with mechanical equipment such as Adiabatic Dry Coolers (ADACs), Chillers, Air Handling Units (AHUs), Coolant Distribution Units (CDUs), and similar equipment. If you understand product design, manufacturing, have CAD drafting experience, you can manage data in a PLM system and develop an engineering change management program, then you will be a good fit. You will be an integral part of our design development process and will focus on establishing and maintaining processes around design changes, capturing metrics, and preparing reports, tracking KPIs, and constantly focused on continuous improvement. You will also collaborate with and support our contract manufacturers and other key business partners for the manufacturing of products. Also as part of the design development process, you will work with other engineers on the team to provide innovative upgrades and improvements to existing and next generational designs based on analysis of data captured through the mechanisms you create and maintain. You will be relied on as a subject matter expert in the tooling and process flow within your scope. We highly support continued learning opportunities and focus on continued employee development.

As a product engineer at Amazon, you will be working with other internal groups as well as external groups including engineering service providers, manufacturers, vendors, inspectors, third party testing labs and contractors.
Amazon has a global presence. Travel will be necessary but shouldn’t be more than 15%. International support will be part of the job, and some international travel may be necessary. Your contribution could consist of leading international projects and could require developing engineering information packages. An understanding of international electrical product design requirements is helpful but not necessary.
Key job responsibilities
* Supports the Data Center Design Engineering, Principal Engineers, and Hardware Engineering teams to support design and develop of cutting edge concepts into new products.
* Collaborate with other disciplines such as Data Center engineering, reliability, QA/QC and compliance teams to create well thought out processes and mechanisms.
* Creation of engineering change management program which meet or exceed our quality and scheduled deliverables while helping to deliver a return on investment.
* Add and Manage product designs in Product Lifecycle Management system including indented Bills-of-Materials and product documentation/drawings.
* Collaborate with Product Design Engineering team to complete updates to product documentation and/or drawings in relevant CAD package.
* Review and become familiar with product design and drawings including mechanical parts, assembly, construction and electrical drawings.
* Define project scope and provide technical support for information requests prior to, and during manufacturing phases.
* Work with design and field engineering, commissioning teams, contract manufacturers, and other relevant business partners to properly manage engineering changes.
* Work with contract manufacturers to integrate design changes and work with them to develop processes that promote the best quality at the lowest cost.
* Ability to provide support for manufacturing activities for the new products on concurrent projects in multiple geographical locations.
* Be a leader within the product development team as well as within internal and external teams that support the data center.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
