Amazon Leo is Amazon's low Earth orbit satellite network with the mission to deliver fast, reliable internet connectivity to customers beyond the reach of existing networks. As the service expands, we need a sharp, adaptable attorney to help navigate new challenges. In this role, you will provide legal counsel at the intersection of technology and regulation, advising on data access, traffic routing, cross-border compliance, and the broader regulatory landscape surrounding satellite-based broadband. You will partner with technical teams, public policy teams, and stakeholders across Amazon to develop practical legal strategies for a truly global network.

Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Key job responsibilities
- Advise on regulatory issues related to satellite-based broadband services, including data access rules, traffic routing requirements, and cross-border compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
- Translate complex, multi-jurisdictional regulations into actionable guidance that engineering and product teams can apply to system design and operations.
- Identify and assess regulatory risks associated with service launches in new countries, developing strategies that balance compliance obligations with business timelines.
- Collaborate with public policy, technical, and business teams across Amazon to build aligned positions on emerging regulatory proposals and submit comments to regulators.
- Monitor proposed and enacted rules that could affect the Leo network, leading end-to-end analysis and recommending paths forward for leadership.

A day in the life
No two days look the same on the Amazon Leo legal team. You might start your morning in a meeting with a technical team discussing traffic routing requirements across jurisdictions and how multiple regulations can be turned into guidance engineers can actually use and close the day drafting feedback on a newly proposed rule that could affect the Leo system, contributing to a comment that will be submitted to regulators. You will be expected to quickly synthesize complex regulatory and technical issues, offer clear and actionable guidance, and engage confidently with stakeholders across the business. You have a willingness to dive into technical subject matter as well as complex regulatory frameworks, and the judgment to make sound recommendations under uncertainty.

About the team
Amazon Leo's legal team supports one of Amazon's most ambitious connectivity initiatives, working to bring reliable internet to customers around the globe. We are a collaborative group that values creative problem-solving and business partnership over simply identifying obstacles. With service launching in multiple jurisdictions, the team is tackling novel regulatory questions that will have a real impact on global connectivity. You will work alongside colleagues across legal, engineering, public policy, and business functions who are passionate about solving difficult problems together. If you are excited about shaping how regulation and technology intersect on a global scale, we would love to hear from you.
