Senior Automation Engineer
Note: Fidelity will not provide immigration sponsorship for this position.
The Core Experience group in Fidelity Brokerage is looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Automation Engineer to transform our 70 hard-working software engineers into a team that adopts quality as a first principle and builds full test automation holistically as part of our SDLC.
The ideal candidate will have deep respect for a healthy test pyramid, proven hands-on success with test automation frameworks for both mobile and web, experience with AI-based testing solutions, and a proven background in QA fundamentals and processes.
The Purpose of Your Role
Design and implement comprehensive end-to-end quality processes for an engineering team dedicated to achieving full test automation, eliminating the need for separate QA.
Leverage the expertise of our Quality Center of Excellence (CoE) to embed a culture of quality within software engineering teams, driving the development of Fidelity’s mobile, web, and API experiences.
Champion best practices, including automation technology, test pyramid health, mobile testing strategies, AI-driven testing solutions, release management, SDLC ways of work, and Definition of Done.
Take ownership of team outcomes and success metrics, including test coverage, automation levels, change failure rate, and pipeline stability.
Mentor and collaborate with team and project leads to develop and refine test strategy, scope, and mobile testing frameworks.
Monitor, maintain, and optimize test suites and CI/CD pipelines to ensure a balance between reliability, test coverage, and developer productivity.
Explore and implement AI/ML-driven testing tools and techniques to enhance test efficiency, defect detection, and overall quality assurance.
The Expertise We’re Looking For
5+ years of professional SDET experience (Software Development Engineer in Test), with a strong focus on writing code for test automation.
Proven experience building and maintaining test automation frameworks for native iOS and native Android (bonus points for web and API applications).
Familiarity with AI/ML-driven testing tools and techniques, with a focus on improving test efficiency and defect detection.
Hands-on experience managing and enhancing CI/CD pipelines, test automation tools and frameworks, feature-toggle management tools, and test environments.
Demonstrated success working on software engineering teams that own and implement their own quality practices, without reliance on separate QA teams.
Strong software engineering background or exposure, with the ability to read, write, and debug Unit, Integration, and End-to-End test code.
Expertise in maintaining and optimizing automated functional test suites to ensure a balance between reliability, test coverage, and developer productivity.
Proficiency in creating and maintaining test data and managing vendor relationships for testing tools and services.
The Skills You Bring
Strategic mindset, strong communication, and technical expertise to lead impactful discussions.
Test-first development mindset with expertise in modern test frameworks for mobile, web, and APIs.
Belief in shared quality ownership and fostering a culture of testing excellence.
Passion for technology, staying updated on trends, and sharing knowledge.
Self-starter and technical leader who challenges the status quo and asks 'Why?' and 'What if?'
Collaborative mentor focused on empowering teams to adopt best practices.
