Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year(s) technical engineering experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience OR equivalent experience
Background Check Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
While not required, we also look for the following Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years technical engineering experience OR equivalent experience.
- Experience in critical environment and industry standards and practices
- Ability to effectively communicate complex technical solutions and concepts to engineers and non-engineers
- Ability to interpret line drawings and system redundancies to ensure design of LOTO systems is 100% effective and in compliance with Microsoft standards
- Experience in the Control of Hazardous Energy in complex mission critical infrastructure
- Experience with the operation and maintenance of building MEP systems. (Power distribution, lighting, grounding, fire alarm, security, life safety, controls systems and sprinkler systems)
- Understanding of electrical theory and practical application via your maintenance & operation of critical electrical equipment. (Paralleling switchgear, redundant UPS systems, DC battery strings, multi-source electrical utility switchgear, standby diesel generators, etc.)
- Knowledge of construction techniques, terminology, and documentation (blueprints, electrical one-lines, construction drawings etc.)
- Practical experience with building management systems and automation, controls & frameworks.
Qualifications
Responsibilities:
- Oversees and assures the overall compliance of Microsoft’s Energy Isolation Program and establish acceptance criteria for authorizing campus Energy Isolation Plan.
- Implements learnings, provides consistency, and drives rigor into Microsoft’s Energy Isolation program and ensures program meets or exceeds company safety policy requirements.
- Utilise local code and standards as the foundation for Microsoft’s Energy Isolation program that is implemented throughout the campus.
- Establish with the Engineering team a centralized Lockout Tag Out (LOTO) procedure with all campus entities and determine if a group or individual LOTO procedure will be required.
- Commencement of energy isolation activities with updates on a continuous basis.
- Liaise with Microsoft construction team where Energy Isolation activities may potentially impact data center core operations.
- Act in coordination with the Engineering team as a subject matter expert in all energy isolation incident investigations in area of responsibility
- Participate in high-risk activity (HRA) planning meetings associated with energy isolation.
- Ensures high-risk SOWs, SOPs and MOPs are reviewed, and all sources of energy are identified.
- Ensure a process is established that verifies qualifications, training, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for personnel performing the work.
- Generate monthly reports highlighting activities and general status of energy isolation program
