Functional Test Engineer

Management Level: Level 11-Analyst

Location: Kochi

Must have skills: Agile Sprint Testing

Good to have skills: API Testing

Experience: 1.5 – 3 years of experience is required

Job Summary 

As a Functional Test Engineer, you will be involved in validating software quality through hands-on testing and active collaboration with cross-functional teams. You'll play a key role in ensuring smooth releases and identifying areas of improvement in testing processes. 

Professional and Technical Skills

• Understand and analyze project requirements and acceptance criteria. 

• Design, write, and execute manual test cases for web and mobile applications. 

• Collaborate with developers and product owners to clarify requirements and raise any concerns. 

• Perform various levels of testing including UI, functional, regression, and smoke testing. 

• Log and track bugs; verify fixes to ensure proper resolution. 

• Participate in sprint ceremonies and contribute to testing during development cycles. 

• Support release activities and help with test summary reports or documentation. 

• Share ideas to improve testing efficiency or suggest areas where automation could be introduced in the future. 

Professional and Technical Skills

• 1.5 to 3 years of hands-on experience in manual testing. 

• Exposure to Agile development methodologies (Scrum/Kanban), and a basic understanding of story points, user stories, and sprint ceremonies. 

• Good understanding of the software testing life cycle (STLC). 

• Ability to write clear and concise test cases and bug reports. 

• Familiarity with test management tools like Jira, Xray, or TestLink is a plus. 

• Exposure to automation tools like Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright is an added advantage. 

• Hands-on experience with API testing will be an added advantage. 
• Good to have knowledge/experience in the E-commerce domain.

• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. 

• Ability to communicate clearly and work well within a team environment. 

• Eagerness to learn and grow in the testing domain.
